No time to get to a studio? Don’t have a yoga mat? NO PROBLEM. You can celebrate #InternationalYogaDay anywhere, any time. Even in a crowded room, wearing a dress 😅 (we love you, @the.wing). Today we’ll be sharing tons of videos that will work you from the ground, up, no studio, mat or gear required! First up - the hips. The biggest joint in our body tends to be home to a lot of tension, especially if you sit at a desk all day.
So, what to do? Seated pigeon 🐦💯
Start seated with both feet firmly planted. Flex one foot, and bring the ankle over the opposite knee. Make sure the foot is outside the knee, and keep it flexed to protect your joints.
If you’re a little tight, manually loosen it all up, and externally rotate your thigh to help gently open the hip.
From there, inhale to lengthen the crown of the head up, and exhale to fold forward with a straight spine.
Take it slow. Feel the feels. And ENJOY! 😎
We did it.... We made it through all
108 sun salutations....
It was a messy, beautiful, tough spiritual journey.
It required our body to listen to our mind and our mind to listen to our spirit. Every body was integrated into the practice today in all ways—soul and sweat.
For me Somewhere around salutation number 70, I thought my body was going to fail me. My arms were shaking and I wanted nothing more than it to be 108. My mind was numb and blank in a non-living way. I was going through the motions automatically, without joy.
Suddenly, though, I hit it! Without thought or even trying, I hit that meditative yoga experience it was the moment Dave had said he felt Joy...
It was the feeling where you are out of your body, no longer in control yet somehow completely above it all. There was no struggle, no mind-racing, no heart-pounding. It was me, my mat and my breath
My entire being of feeling not in my head where it usually is, and I was feeling the love of it all.
For here is what I realized—we were making a difference one sweaty breath at a time.
Beautiful things happened in that room. I was bringing peace to all and that matters.
As we walked out of that yoga room calm, cool headed.
So tomorrow you may notice it a little hard to lift your arms due to unknowable soreness, think of the struggle you have at times and know when you are faced with a challenge you know you can step up to the plate....
P. S treat yourself to an epson salt bath for your muscles 💪
108 sun salutations.
a total of 108 push-ups.
Unending hamstring stretches in uncountable downward dogs.
Burning abs lifting my torso up over and over again.
All for commitment to ourselves..
Next time you return to your yoga mat, breathe in and remember you
Congratulations 108 Yogis
Summer Solstice :: A time to honour the fertility of the earth and the sun’s blessing of warmth and light.
Solstice originates from the Latin word solstitium: sol (sun) and stitium (to stop). So stop to acknowledge how far you’ve come and set intentions for what you wish to create in your life during the second half of the year. "One learns from the perfect discipline of the sun and solar system.” #patanjaliyogasutras#summersolstice#setintentions#celebrate#shineon#liveinlove

Greetings from Mysore! I spent some time this morning reviewing and revising my Yoga and the Vagus Nerve workshop, which I’ll be giving in Miami before I head home to Guatemala. This is a multifaceted yoga experience, that can inform both asana and meditation practice. In fact, it’s applicable to most any yoga method or mindfulness technique. At its core, this session is really about understanding the importance of your story, how you can be empowered by sharing it. It’s about how you can learn to remain in a state of calm when confronted by triggering situations. I’ll share my experience of transcending trauma and moving into healing, in the hopes that it might help you on your path. There will be only a little asana in this workshop, but a lot of discussion and exploration of yogic practices both very traditional and extremely experimental. The class will be filmed by @omstarsofficial for a course I’m currently developing with them. I’m so excited to be back in my old stomping grounds for a few days, and hope to see all my old friends and students while I’m there! ♥️ Come! @wynwood_yoga on Monday, July 2nd from 12-3pm ♥️

Today marks the day of the Summer Solstice, as well as International Yoga Day. There is so much to celebrate and be appreciative of today and everyday. In honor of this magical day, take a little extra time to celebrate the life you live. Appreciate the people in your life, the joys, your mind and the body which carries you through each day. Celebrate with a walk in nature, a yoga class or maybe a wholesome dinner with the people you love. Appreciate the beauty that this Earth provides and the energy that is given to us by the Sun. "Practice with perseverance, persevere with patience."- Nicole Calhoun ⠀
Nicole, @yogaelixir shared her inspiration with us last fall at YOTM Mt. Magazine and we are so thrilled she is joining us again in Snowmass in July!
Nicole has always been a passionate athlete… From playing basketball and running track in high school in Texas, to being a scholarship hurdler at Texas Tech University. She first found yoga in 2010 as a way to relieve chronic back and neck pain. From the time she walked into Karmany Yoga in Dallas and took her first vinyasa class, she was obsessed with the emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects of this practice. ⠀
Nicole is a practitioner of vinyasa flow, ashtanga yoga, as well as yin yoga. She has trained with Tiffany Cruikshank and Kathryn Budig and is a student of Kino McGregor. Nicole received her 200 hour teacher certification from Karmany Yoga-Dallas (Dallas’ yoga studio, as voted by D Magazine) with Amy Johnson and Jayme Bushmiaer. ⠀
In addition to teaching yoga, Nicole holds a doctorate degree in molecular biology and is a researcher at the U of A. She’s also a runner, mom, wife and a passionate world traveler. ⠀
Nicole's classes offer students a spirited vinyasa flow that challenges you to tap into your physical possibilities while also focusing on the inner journey of the practice. She inspires everyone around her to meet their best self. Underneath her ability to lead you through an inspiring class is her compassionate heart.

Happy international yoga day ❤️ it's really nice to have a day to celebrate yoga, even if for me it's a yoga day every time I'm on the mat. 4 years ago I started my journey and yoga gave me so much so far, not just at physical level. It's one of the best choice I ever made in my life and I'm so happy about it ❤️ so let's celebrate this day together 😁 what does yoga mean for you?
E tudo bem ... 🧡
Happy international yoga day 💕 I’m still reading trough my journal from the Embodied Flow training. Golden nuggets everywhere ✨
The fire within me wants to give everything
From the bottom of my heart
Letting all go
Not knowing where life will take me is a blessing
Like a flower
Not knowing when to blossom
The sun will show its way
This is the movement of life
How can we as humans
Surrender to the world of what is?
By letting others be
Exactly as they are
And still loving them
Not changing anything, but evolving with it
This is the purpose.
I bow to you all 🙏🏻
Happy International Yoga Day! 🧘🏻♀️
Happy Summer Solstice! ☀️
Happy Day! 🌷
The summer solstice is more than just the first day of summer and the longest day of the year. The summer solstice provides an opportunity to reflect, reset and take action. In yoga, we often mark this time with a series of 108 sun salutations and while it challenges our bodies physically, it also challenges the mind mentally, but it's one of the most meditative things I've done before. And while I won't be making my class practice 108 on Saturday, we will be taking several opportunities to salute the sun...😅
I’ve wanted to visit #Bali for a looooong time. The beauty. The yoga. How it’s more “spiritual” than Phuket. And all this other stuff. While the island is bigger, has an active volcano 🌋 many waterfalls and a thriving permaculture scene, the fact is, these things are all great environmental contributors, but they themselves don’t make Bali spiritual. Nor did the lack of these things make Phuket not spiritual. Phuket became a place of intense spiritual, personal and yogic growth once I let it. A huge component of the growth, is my dear friend Sandy 😃 Tag a friend/account who has helped you grow spiritually/personally/yogic-ly (?) lol
She helped me reflect on many aspects of life, considered my experimentations as her yoga teacher and gave me the chance to explore in classes. It was with her guidance, intuition and support I dove deeper into myself, and our friendship, allowing much development during the four months there 📶
While it was sad to physically leave, I know we are on the same vibrational plane. We’ve been going through similar life events at the same time whether we are close or far apart. But now, the universe has brought me here. I must take all she has taught me, and put it into practice. This is the best way to show my love for her, to live the lessons she taught me, to share them with others and to “ask my heart” 💜 when I need guidance. Thank you so much for being in my life Sandy, you’ve set me on a path that’s changed me forever. I am incredibly grateful! ♥️ Have you asked your heart for guidance recently? What was it about! •
