Happy weekend to you all! I know it’s easy to stay up late and sleep in late but it’s best for your body if you keep to your regular schedule. When you alter your sleep to late night/late morning on the weekends you create jet lag causing those Monday blues 😨
This weekend try an experiment:
1)Eat a lite dinner by 6:00 pm
2)Turn off all electronics and harsh lighting by 9:30 pm (I personally love my #himalayansaltlamp -swipe left to see mine, I love the dimmer!) 3)Be asleep by 10:30 pm
Morning: ☀️ 1)Wake up within 30 minutes of the time you wake up during the week
2)Drink a glass of room temp water before anything else (add some lemon & pinch of salt for an extra boost)
3)Try some CCF tea (recipe in next post)
4)Eat a lite breakfast by 8:30 am
5)Go for a walk, do some yoga (I love @adrienelouise ) , mediate, read, create (paint, write, draw, craft, music, etc) 🤔
Simple steps that anyone can do and don’t cost or need a thing. I promise you will feel the best you have ever felt Monday. You will also create a lot more time, relaxation and happiness in your weekend days. Let me know if you tired any or all these steps and how you felt Monday!
Competing in combat sports is such a real and self discovery experience!✌️ It exposes you to your own thoughts and what kind of person you really are when you feel pressure. Understand that the human body although it predominantly moves in linear fashion, it will benefit greatly from more athletic functional movements revolving around almost all anatomical planes of motion. • When it comes to anatomy and physiology, one important concept that we often overlook is the fact that the human body rarely performs the exact same movement the exact same way. In fact, the only place where human movement is consistently repetitive is in the gym unfortunately. This is what leads to injury. • Training all three planes of motions is essential in order to achieve the highest level of performance and durability as a human. Preventing stagnation of movement pattern is a very important part of preventing movement syndromes and disruptions in our movement health. • Whether you're training an athlete or regular client remember that the human body is meant to perform in all three planes of motion. Movements revolving around these planes at once are not just functional but they reduce injury risk. If the body was meant to move in only one direction every basketball player would make every shot they shoot and baseball players would throw the perfect pitch everytime. Our muscles adapt to the stress placed on them, so training them in varying manners is the best way to improve athleticism and proper movement pattern.

I have ALWAYS had such self worth problems practically my entire life. So much so I didn’t even want to put my new swimsuit on (bought it two weeks ago and it sat in the Walmart bag- YES I shop at Walmart!), scared it wouldn’t look good enough for people to see me in it. Well it was staring me in the face today saying “Just try it on!” (Name that movie!). I’m not gonna lie. Even though I’ve lost 30 pounds and have gone from a size 14 to a 6, I still see the girl on the left when I look in the mirror. It’s hard to get myself out of the self abusive hole I put myself in. At conference last week, we learned to imagine God speaking the opposite of the negative things we say to ourselves.
So instead of
I’m not thin enough for this swimsuit, I’m telling myself-> look how far you’ve come!
I can’t post that on Instagram-> think of the lives you can change.
People are going to judge you-> they weren’t your real friends anyway, and the people who love you will support you 💯 percent.
So here it is. The “before.” It’s been a journey to get to where I am now. Learning to love myself along the way through the ups and downs is the best lesson. And the fact I’ve been able to maintain this for a year is incredible. ❤️ YOU. ARE. Over the years it's become abundantly clear to me that we've received the wrong end of the stick when it comes to using a scale. I can remember it starting in high school. The message that we shouldn't weigh ourselves anymore became quite predominant. I also remember that it seemingly coincided with the development of stretchy pants after an era of a very tight jeans. 😂
In our quest to be skinny we started eating #fatfree and then we got #fat . Without our tools and a drawer full of stretchy pants, before we knew it, all too many of us lost track. The #fatfreefoods contained #chemicals our bodies didn't understand and from there the web was woven. Our #bloodsugar levels got messed up. Our brains got wired on #excitotoxins , and that coupled with the #sugar caused havoc on our bodies.
I use my #scale everyday. If I'm gaining weight I look at what I was eating and correct it. I've learned what foods aren't good for me because after consuming them, I gain weight. From the scale I've learned that I don't digest legumes and grains very well at all. I've gotten way better control on my #hormones . But most of all, it helps me keep my weight consistent within five or so pounds.
A scale is a tool and your weight is the first indication of sickness or irregularity going on in your body. Weighing you used to be the first thing the doctor did when you went to visit them, yet today it doesn't happen often. We've been told that the scale is bad for our #bodyimage , yet the lack of one leaves without the very tool to take control of it. How can you make positive choices when you are devoid of the very information you need to make an informed choice?
To #thriveat50 and beyond, it's important to take back our tools and our own #commonsense when it comes to taking care of ourselves. The scale is an excellent place to start. It's time to see the scale as it really is. It's your friend, not your foe like we've been led to believe.
