1 animal drinks this much a day. If you have a mob of sheep or cattle it's a bit of water you need to keep going.
If you bring in subsidies that can be back dated this will give some cash flow back to the farmer.
The prices would not be inflated because the invoices have been issued and paid.
This might keep them going just that bit longer.
Your DPI explains it will be going for a bit longer yet, so how about it ? Subsidies for freight, water and feed.
Most animals drink from dams. Dams fill from water run off from the land. Water comes from the sky. Tanks fill from the sky too. Some have bores that pump from under the ground...
guess where this water comes from...you smart cookie yep it comes from the sky!!!! Dams also supply towns...thats right Sydney your water comes from dams and dams fill from runoff from the land. Water comes from the sky. Some towns are running out of water and some farms have no water left in their drinking tanks.
You can cart it if you can get it. Carting costs dollars. We can't let our farmers or their towns die of thirst after all we are the lucky country.
Then there are the croppers. Crops grow in the ground. The ground needs water. Where does the water come from? I think you know.
Some have irrigation...uh oh where does this water come from the rivers....or under the ground...how does it get there.
So we need rain and no one can make that happen.
But we make the effort to drought proof the farm, but you can only store so much feed and water. We can't water the ground to grow feed it's not viable we need the water so the animals can drink in a drought and the people too.
We would like the government to drought proof their country and in turn their farmers so their people can be fed.
When the army practices digging dams how about you do that where it's needed on a farm.
Have your subsidies ready to help your farmers...this is you drought proofing your country.
The loans have to be paid back....do you know how it feels having another loan monkey sitting on your back. Most have already spent what they would get if they can get it and some can't qualify.
Thanks @landline #droughtsnfloodingrains#droughtproofaustralia
While rural Australia accounts for just 10 percent of our population, almost 40 percent of the food which passes through Foodbank is distributed outside our major cities.
