🔬 First of all understand that you are not exempt from science, if you start eating in a calorie surplus you will put on weight.
.
🐽 You simply have to start chucking more food down your gullet. The types of food don’t matter as much as the total calorie consumption either. Just get more calories down, if that means turning to ‘naughty’ foods to help you get there then so be it. Base the majority of your diet around good healthy foods but chuck some high calorie naughtiness in there to. There's only so much chicken, rice and veg you can eat after all.

🍗 Make sure that you are eating enough protein for muscular repair (1g per 1lb of bodyweight). If you are finding it hard to get the calories down then resort to liquid calories. Oats, bananas, peanut butter, milk and protein powder in the blender does the trick!
.
⛏ In terms of training, lift weights 3-6 times a week. Base the majority of your workout around large compound movements. Squats, deadlifts, presses and rows. Focus on developing those movements with solid form and incorporate some isolation work after those lifts.
.
🖐🏼 Don’t stress about what other people in the gym are doing. Don’t be ashamed if you aren't lifting the heaviest of weights. Everybody starts somewhere, everyone was once a beginner.
.
🍁 Stay consistent, stay patient. Week by week, month by month, things will change and then you can look back at how far you have come with a great sense of pride.

👉🏻 As everyone knows, instagram in reality is just a highlight reel of people’s lives, only sharing the perfect moments, pictures or videos for the most part. I am also guilty of this but I try my best to be transparent and keep it real with you guys. These past 2 weeks of prep have been the hardest so far and my adherence has not been as great as I would like it to be and that’s just me being 100% honest. Not sugar coating things and pretending like I’m perfect or don’t mess up because that’s just completely not true .

🗣 Part of this in my opinion is due to internal motivation, I was soo fired up every single day of my prep leading up to the muscle mayhem because I truly wanted to bring my best to that stage soo badly. It was my decision and I had my eyes on that show for about 2 years and I was ready to put in the work. After winning my pro card and finding out I had to complete within the year I must say I was a bit disappointed just because I felt like I emptied the tank and focused so much on that 1 show. Physically and mentally I was just drained and was looking forward to having a nice offseason and allowing my body time to repair and recover. Having to get myself back into that prepping mentality for an additional 12 weeks has been tough because I feel like Im competing in this upcoming show more so to stay eligible as a Pro rather then really truly wanting too.. that being said it’s time to dig deep, stop being a panzy and keep grinding these last 8-9 weeks out and bring and even better package to stage this time around 💪🏻 Being able to compete truly is a privilege that I’m extremely thankful for 🙏 .

When it comes to cardio, more is not better. Better is better.

In my experience, those who tend to spend an inordinate amount of time on cardio are either:

1️⃣ Afraid of strength training and getting “bulky” 🏋🏼‍♀️
2️⃣ Endurance athletes (and it’s raining outside) ⛈

BUT, most likely it’s:

3️⃣ Trying to outrun a “bad” diet 🏃🏻‍♂️🍕🍩🍟
.
Here’s the pivotal thing that I think chronic cardio 🐰 types seem to be missing: exercise is a stressor on the body!
.
Anytime you do an intensive workout program of any variety, your body will need time to rest and recover.
.
Too much cardio can actually can lead you down a path of diminishing returns. In other words, the body becomes so stressed that it’s no longer responding optimally. It’s in survival mode, and that’s not great for fat loss.
.
A few different ways you can observe whether your body is experiencing too much stress and no longer responding in a healthy way:
.
🍔You’re always hungry
🛌 You’re dragging ass
📉 You’re no longer progressing
🔴 You’ve lost your menstrual cycle
💤 Irregular sleep patterns
🍫 Ravenous cravings
.
Something to consider: the body is NOT the enemy. Don’t treat it like an abusive asshole. You’re a team! You have to work together in harmony to achieve what you want. Otherwise, like a toddler that’s not getting its way, it will scream and kick in protest and fight you every step of the way.

Instead of working ON your body, try working WITH your body for the best results.

Let’s say you slept for 8 hours, meaning your body has been in catabolic state for at least 4 hours.  If you care about your muscle gains you are gonna want to switch to an anabolic state asap and get that protein in as soon as you wake up. That’s why I make sure to have at least 25g if protein in my first meal and my #level1 makes it so easy and delicious.

If you are anything like me, you prefer to eat your meals then just to drink them. 😌 There are so many ways to include whey in your meal like oatmeal, overnight oats or chia pudding, pancakes, protein treats and ice cream.
.
This morning I combined it with cream of wheat and greek yogurt, topped it with cashews and blueberries. #toogoodtobetrue Wish I had my Ice cream sandwich flavored Level-1 but German chocolate cake works as well 😍.

Go ahead and enjoy this keto breakfast classic for lunch. Or dinner. We've added nuts and bell pepper for a nice crunch. Why complicate things?
. 🔴Ingredients
150 g bacon
2 tbsp butter, for frying
4 eggs
2 avocados
4 tbsp walnuts
1 green bell pepper
salt and pepper
1 tbsp fresh chives, finely chopped (optional)

30 g arugula lettuce
2 tbsp olive oil

Fry the bacon in butter over medium heat until crispy.
Remove from pan and keep warm. Leave the fat that's accumulated in the pan. Lower the heat to medium low and fry the eggs in the same frying pan.
Place bacon, eggs, avocado, nuts, bell pepper and arugula on a plate.
Drizzle the remaining bacon fat on top of the eggs. Season to taste.

Would never have even considered directly training adductors before the first time I got in stage condition.
With my lack of thigh-gap at a more “comfortable” body weight, I assumed training them direct wasn’t needed, but when the fat really came off for the first time, I quickly realised that it wasn’t all muscle under there!
Train them. A thigh gap is not a good look on a bodybuilding stage!

How can alcohol make you gain fat and how can this be avoided ?
.
I’ll condense this as simply as I can! ...
.
So macros= protein, fats & carbs.
Each are stored in the body and have a purpose; alcohol has no nutritional purpose or value. It can not be stored in the body and is processed metabolically by the liver the same way poison is. Therefore, processing “empty” alcohol calories takes priority over any other calories. the metabolism of dietary fat for energy is therefore slowed down massively, making fats more available for storage. .
✨Solution: reduce fat intake on days that you’re drinking, and try not to binge on something high fat after drinking, as there is a very high chance this will be stored! THIS is when alcohol causes fat gain, the fat you consumed around the period of drinking, not the alcohol itself!

Aim to reduce calories from fats and carbs (which if not processed for storage in their purpose will store as fats too) on the day of drinking.
Eat a high volume of protein instead, aim for things like beans that will fill you up! .

today was arm day so I did the one bicep exercise I do each week (along with tons of triceps & some forearms), something I learned from @obese_to_beast!

Grab a 45 lb plate (or whatever works for you) and do bicep curls til you reach failure! Then right when you do, go down in weight and do it again. Two sets and it’s the best bicep pump ever imo. 💪🏼
