Spending our last day in Puerto Rico as a tourist. Work is done so we’re doing as many touristy things as we can today. First stop of the day: We came to Castillo San Felipe del Morro, a fort close to Old San Juan. The rustic fort up against the crisp waters and blue skies almost took my breath away. Because we are military, there was no fee to enter (usually $7). The fort is massive, almost like a small city. We spent a couple hours here exploring all the nooks and crannies. Days 1-3 are a ‘bro-split’ where I smash 1-2 muscle groups. Day 4 is HIIT Cardio and core. Day 5 is rest, LISS cardio at most. Day 6 is a high volume, full body routine (press, push, pull, lunge, squat, hinge), including one exercise for each. I aim for 100 reps in as few sets as possible. Day 7, I hit core again and take a nice long walk. •••

🔹Linked to obesity - it’s digested quickly so you don’t feel full regardless of calories.

With that said, caffeine is a safe drug that allows us as people who are trying to improve our bodies to lose weight. Caffeine helps us boosts our workouts to be more focused and energetic.

But did you know that caffeine could also hurt your progress to lose those extra pounds?

By taking TOO MUCH, studies have shown that it decreases performance due to the effects of jitters, anxiety, rapid heart rate increase, and insomnia.

If you do not know how sensitive you are, you can mitigate of overdoing the caffeine by starting with a small caffeinated drink like light teas, a small coffee, or diet Coke or Dr. Pepper. These can range from 30 mg to 60 mg of caffeine per drink.

Additionally, take into consideration how caffeine metabolizes in your body. Take into account how it can affect your sleep. SLEEP is MORE IMPORTANT than that extra boost of energy for your workouts. Everybody experiences caffeine differently. Just because your buddy is taking two scoops of pre-workout at 5 PM DOES NOT mean you should do it as well.

This movement is excellent for training and correcting the mobility of the thoracic spine.  Aim for 12 controlled reps on each side
✳️ Here’s How To:
1️⃣ Start in a quadruped position, with knees under the hips and wrists under the shoulders. 
2️⃣ Place one hand behind your head and while keeping the shoulders inline with the hips, rotate the torso towards the opposite wrist. 
3️⃣ Then slowly rotate outwards still keeping the shoulders inline with the hips, ensuring you are rotating with the thoracic spine and not getting help from the hips. 
4️⃣ Repeat 15 reps on each side. 🛑 What to Avoid:
1️⃣ Twisting with hips, shoulders and hips are no longer aligned.
2️⃣ Shoulder blades caving.
3️⃣ Overarching of the back.
