As you guys saw on my stories, last week I had the pleasure of going back to my university and taking part in a career conversations panel. Slide for pictures. I couldn’t help but see my younger self in all the students - nervous and anxious about the future. I used to sit in these career sessions and think, “Man! These panelists have such cool sounding jobs! How can I just get there already???”
Listening to their questions, I felt like nothing at all had changed in the school environment. I know now that the only way to be fulfilled in terms of the work you do is to draw from your own passions and interests. I wanted to tell them to have fun too, to live in the moment and not in the future. That is the only way to tap into your unique creative potential. It doesn’t happen when you’re simply following footsteps in pre-determined career paths.
Unfortunately, I also know that the never-ending readings, assignments, and midterms leave very little time to just be present with yourself. To any students reading this, or to anyone who is bound by too many deadlines and due dates, I’d say make time to relax and quiet your mind. That is the only way to know yourself and find out what you truly want. Doing this exercise is not easy, but it will make all the difference ❤️ Tag your friends who need to hear this! 👇🏽
