Sigh. We have a resident raccoon who spends its days napping in the old magnolia tree right by the front door at the farm.
It's giant, and quite sloth-like. It takes turns laying in the crutch in the branch and in the squirrel's nest. You can see it's passed out right now in the nest, as the breeze blows the branches of the tree, gently swaying it as it sleeps like a rock.
I have so many mixed feelings.
Raccoons slaughter my babies, my chickens. They terrorize our flocks. This one hasn't. It's torn up plants in the garden - mostly tomatoes and green beans. So far, it hasn't bothered our feathered friends.
Is it a matter of time? Do we give it a pass until it does? I've told sam I wish it would come down and hang out like a cat, so I could feel better about its future intentions.
I guess we will see what happens. 🙄

I am the most thankful woman because of my dear, artist, conservationist, friend for making me the most beautiful rain barrel! And for also honoring my Mom, "Nana", this makes it so much more special to me. To think of her spirit & how what comes from this, waters & grows my farm, feeds us, it just keeps multiplying the love & memory of her. From my heart, thank you, @rainbarreldude, I'm grateful, so very grateful. It came just in time too! Monsoons are rolling in as I write this 🌧🍉🍓🥒🍠🌶🌧
Now this is what I’d be doing everyday in a perfect world! This is a world where there’s no bugs, no heat, no humidity, and when I can achieve all of this without having to wake up early! Well I guess if I wait a couple of months, I can achieve this ‘perfect world’ during fall! I love fall! -
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the stable I was riding at this time a year ago. I love being able to visit my horse everyday and anytime I like! I like that I can ride him through fields at home, even though I don’t do this too much because it’s just me and him. That’s the only thing I dislike about having him at home! I miss seeing all the people and being surrounded by true professional horseback riders, ones that I can learn a lot from! That was the perk of having him at a stable! I definitely am ready to start up lessons again so I can feel that him and my work is actually going somewhere and that we’re improving, not that we’re picking up bad habits without even realizing! It’s difficult to find a trainer to teach lessons around here!
Hope everyone’s having an amazing summer night! I’m thinking of bringing my phone out to the barn tomorrow night to get some more pictures of the animals! I always see them when I’m down there and regret not having it with me!!😂
So many things to do to prepare for #NationalAlpacaFarmDay2018 . This guy’s help was instrumental and I never could have managed cleaning up one row of fence line without him. Thank you, Little Black Kitty. 🙏

Emergency! We are in need of donations to buy a new refrigerator two of our three are not working and one is completely dead! We are going to the store tomorrow to buy a brand new one to ensure we will have a quality one. If you can spare 5$ even that would be a world of help. We got a huge donation of food from Community Good Share in Boulder and we don’t want the food to go bad so let’s try to raise the $1500 or as close as we can! Thanks again in advance! Link to donate is in the bio!
