First Day of holidays! We hit up @summerlandheritagecider for a delicious tasting! If you haven't tried their NEW Hopped Peach Cider, it's time to get on it! A dry cider with sutble flavors of peach and a citrus/foral notes from the hops makes for an interesting and refreshing cider.
Lucky for me they were having a sale on cider! When you Buy any 3 - 500ml bottles, receive a 750ml FREE! Needless to say I stocked up! 🍎🍏
We also hit up @cannerybrewing and I was able to enjoy a glass of The Flume from Summerland Cider, then back to the house to feed the #farmfriends ! 🐂🐓
Tomorrow we will be checking out a few other cideries, so more to come!
Good morning ducklings 💛 they are more playful by the day 💛 my sweet husband brought them home from @tractorsupply on Saturday. They still had their itty bitty umbilical cords, so they must have been only a few days old. We are 5 days in now and they are healthy, happy, and curious. Just like ducklings should be 💛
Good night from the funny farm! These two got away from me today when I was trying to give check ups (I do this once every two weeks, check eyes, hooves and coat.) it was quite a chore getting them back in their pen 😥. They are both currently in heat so they are extra feisty! Anyways, I came inside from that and a run to tractor supply and did my longest live video to date, so go check it out:) I love you guys, thank you for being a part of my community on here! It means a lot! Hugs from hot muggy Texas!! ❤️ Jo

In a moment of sheer genius, we traded some of our Berkshire Pork and Chicken for some purebred Japanese Wagyu steaks from @the_high_sl_ranch here in Tulsa. Paired with some fantastic @highgroveestate wine from one of our customers, this was one of the best meals we've ever cooked out here at the farm.
We had some flat iron and strip steaks cooked in a @lodgecastiron with garlic and grassfed butter. WOW.
Then, all 6 of us went out to load chickens to take to the butcher, the whole time talking about how good that steak was. Minds blown. Thanks @the_high_sl_ranch! Your product is next level delicious.
We have a very healthy population of amphibians here; I'm sure that the creek in the woods assists greatly in keeping the numbers up. Frogs are always on our windows at night making all kinds of wonderful noise. The toads seem to greatly enjoy the garden, especially the figs
As well, anytime water collects into a puddle for more than thirty seconds it becomes a tadpole block party around here. No complaints, happy to have them!
This is something that has been spinning in my head for awhile....
“To grow is a privilege; whether it is growing up, growing old, growing in love, growing a business, growing closer to God, or growing a family, growth is a privilege-one that not everyone is entitled to. So much of this generation is entitlement-a feeling that things are owed to them-but growth in all the ways mentioned, are not owed...but a gift. Growing is this amazing process called life. What if it suddenly stopped? What if people stopped growing their knowledge base? What happens if farmers decide to stop growing our food? Growth is a privileged life. We live on the basis of growth; but growth takes work. To grow a business takes work, to grow old with your partner- day in and out-love takes work. To grow a family takes constant shepherding-aka-work!
Growth is simply not a right but a privilege that if worked hard enough for, is the fruit of your labor.
Growth transforms us- if we are lucky-one day we look up and we are aged. If blessed we have grown with that aging process-we have grown in love with our partners, we have grown children, and relationships, we have grown in patience, love, knowledge, and faith. I guess I am saying this largely to myself-a reminder that growth takes time and work-it is not something that comes easy- not without trials, failures, heartache and loss. But if we continue to search out the good, and strive to learn from very instance of our lives then we continue to grow! And maybe one day we will bloom...which is of course the purpose of this life - to bloom and show God your strength, talents, and abilities...to Grow is indeed a miraculous privilege!! #hearthandhomestead#swirlingthoughts#mondaymusings#grow#growth#farmfriends#farmlife#thoughtsandprayers#iprayedforthis
The tower is now into production. Thanks to @leapinlizardacresfarm for the great plant starts. Along with this tower we will have live micro trays, fresh local produce, and so much more to offer at the market store. More to come on the store.
Lovely breakfast @trevaskisfarm this morning, treated to by my lovely auntie who's down from Exeter this week. We all had a walk around the farm and seen the animals. We didn't pick any fruit today but got to see the lovely little piglets 😊 She then took us to @dunelmuk and treated the children to new bedding for their new rooms and now just awaiting the matching curtains.
