The Old Rectory, Newton Toney is a classic, attractive, Georgian house built in approximately 1778. Previously, on the site, was a Jacobean rectory which was demolished by the Rector, The Reverend John Ekins who disliked the architectural style. The Reverend Ekins was appointed Dean of Salisbury Cathedral and it is believed he sourced stone from the demolished Cathedral at Old Sarum to build The Old Rectory. A number of the carved stones in the property can be identified in the plinth of the current house. The rectory was sold by the church back in 1953.
