We celebrated my birthday over a weekend in the seaside town of Granville. This gorgeous town in #normandy is sometimes referred to as the “ #monaco of the north”. Maybe because of its casino or perhaps the way it is situated on cliffs. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I love the word for cliffs in French “falaise”. Reminds me of a fluffy pastry. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Unfortunately this fluffy pastry is crumbling! The #falaise upon which the house of the #dior family is built saw some bit of its cliff erode. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I really loved this cosily chic town. It has beautiful homes, a sea side that can make many a beach bums drool, a lighthouse at the edge of the planet (that’s what it feels like)... great food and lovely people. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
#valognes the other town where we visited a darling couple was a gem in a haystack. Further north of Granville, this tiny town is an architect’s dream. Every nook and cranny is filled with sooo much history, we felt awful that we didn’t spend more time here. Definitely going back to this part of Normandy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🇫🇷 Connaissez-vous la belle île de Malte ? J'y retournerais avec plaisir, elle a tout pour plaire ... un patrimoine important, des eaux limpides, ça vous tenterait ? /// 🇬🇧 Do you know Malta island ? I'd love to go back there ... so much history, and amazing blue waters ...
