This Bird sure can strike a pose. She looks like she truly belongs in the forest. 🌲🌲🌲 I’m thinking of shifting/continuing this photo series on my travel Instagram to add some serious sparkle. You can check it out at @wanderlust.and.sparkles

When Caitrin was little, we made a book of fairytales—all “written” by her (she spoke and I transcribed). 🌀We would read lots of versions of the story, watch films, talk, and then she’d create her own version of the story that she told me and I jotted it down for her on her page of artwork. This project lasted a year—one fairytale/story per month. Liam created his own book too.
The pictures are of these stories:
1. Jack and the Bean Stalk
2. Ugly Duckling
3. Alice in Wonderland
4. Snow White
5. The Jot It Down product—I turned these sorts of projects into a Brave Writer program you can do with your youngest kids. Each project is designed to last a month and to give your children (5-8) a chance to be writers even before they can read or handwrite.
Jot It Down is one of our top sellers, and I’d love to see your projects when you share them on Instagram. I’ll pop a link into my bio, if you want to purchase this wonderful program. Works well with multiple kids! Post questions below.

I’d like to take a moment to talk about how good the Grimm Legacy is; there’s the original messed up princess stories and other fairy tales before disney messed them up, there’s the annoying guy who turns out to be really nice, the arrogant basketball player and that one typical perfect kid wiTH ARGUABLY THE MOST COMICAL SISTER IN THE WORLD. Anyway, it’s centered around the concept that the objects from fairy tales are real, such as Cinderella’s slipper, that pot that kept making porridge for some reason (??), and more. And these objects can be rented, like library books. Then suddenly, these objects start losing their magic and our four main characters plus the sister begin to investigate what the heck is going on. Long story short, it’s a very good book and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves the Grimm fairy tales and some unexpected, slow burn romance.
