Growing book collection part 2😍
Oh and Julia Donaldson has become a firm favourite!
The encyclopedias, in my opinion, are gold dust... a bargain I just had to take advantage of. Seriously facebook teacher buy and sell groups are soooo good.
I feel like I will be personally well resourced at this point.
*SPACE SENSORY TRAY*
T asked me for a “REALLY EXCITING ACTIVITY” this afternoon (no pressure 😂😅). I hadn’t got anything planned but I threw together a little sensory tray on our moon surface, using star stickers, sparkly pom poms, and sequins. I also put a few numbers on to see what she does with them. So far we are filling craters with treasure, making the longest numbers we can, and making space potions 😉
💡T O . I N S P I R E💡
Oh just expanding my personal book collection for the children I will teach across my career.
I aim to fill up every child's bucket by helping to promote self-confidence and I aim to offer them variety in respect to genres as I want them to genuinely love the magic that comes from reading books.
I still have lots to get and collect but at least I have started... some of these are second hand (from Facebook groups) whilst others I have bought brand new.
For #mathsonmonday today we’ve been looking at the rocket model which we made with our @theworksstores den building kit. We’ve been looking at which shapes we can find, and how many of each shape there are. We’ve counted 8 triangles, 15 squares and 1 octagon. What about you?
Some ice play to cool down today. J and I celebrated our eighth wedding anniversary last week and he bought me some lovely blooms but yesterday they suddenly wilted - so what better use for them than some nature play?! I stuck them in as many tupperwares as I could find lids for (where do they all go?!), topped up with water and threw in the freezer. We ended up coming inside before we’d finished playing with them so we popped them back in the freezer ready for another day.
Some things I have bought👍🏾; a lot of things I have downloaded, edited and laminated✂️; and others I have designed and made myself✍. I have spent the last few days cutting, laminating and cutting again. The bag in front of the 'creative area sign' is an A3 pouch full to the brim of my laminated stuff. My theory is, do it now, stick it up with blutac and you'll have it for life (or a long time, providing I look after it and file it well when not in use). I am feeling more and more ready for this NQT challenge in EYFS. 💎Can you guess my theme?💎
Today Laura & Sara went to the @pulse95radio offices to have a discussion on the #MorningMajlis with the lovely @sallymousa & @omaralbusaidy about the value of schools and universities and if it’s all worth it. ✨😄💫

We grew runner beans over the garden arches outdoors last year ☀️🌿 It didn't happen this year because the children over watered them 😬🙄 August's @invitation2play challenge is OUTDOOR PLAY. Please share old and new photos using the special hashtag #invitationtoplay_outdoorplay so we can find your great ideas!
Continuing with the #space theme, this morning T & I have built a rocket using our den building kit from @theworksstores. She also made a control panel and a sign, just in case anyone was uncertain that it’s a ‘rockit’. 🚀😍 Now she’s busy letting her imagination run wild as she plays, in astronaut uniform of flamingo PJs and her @flyingtiger Astronaut helmet. Meanwhile, A is running around clutching my Bluetooth speaker, which is currently playing Holst’s #planetsuite . 🌍🌙🌟☄️☀️
Now I’m being called away to help make some #rocketboosters . Hope we don’t run into any aliens! 👽
T has been wanting to find out all about #space recently; so this morning I put out a little invitation to create so that she could have a go at painting some planets.
Of course she wanted to dive straight in, but I encouraged her to try and slow down a little and look carefully at the colours and patterns before trying to recreate them.
We also experimented with colour mixing together to try and get the shades she wanted.
Seeing the benefits that Tales Toolkit brings to early years learning is just the best thing! Check out the #progress to this child's work from the after photo to the before! We're super proud of all the teachers using #talestoolkit in their #schools , keep up the amazing work!
A mixture of all sorts in this #childinitiatedplay on the last day of term last week! 🌟
August’s @invitation2play challenge is 〰️ OUTDOOR PLAY 〰️ Please share old and new photos using the special hashtag #invitationtoplay_outdoorplay so we can find your great ideas! You can tag old activities too!
Today we visited the amazing @creative_nest_nursery ✨😄⭐️ Laura Henry, MD of Training & Consultancy went to meet the lovely ladies over at the nursery who are now members of our Early Years club! Wonderful displays and settings. ✨If you would like to invite us for a tour at your nursery pl are do not hesitate to contact us!
I left out some sequin patterns for T to have a go at this morning. She’s very capable of recognising and continuing a pattern; but when making her own she sometimes forgets about the repetition. We talked about some of the different ways a pattern can repeat (eg AB, ABB, ABC) and she’s been having a go at making her own. #mathsonmonday
