Ended staff wellbeing week with a tasty bang by channeling all of our Masterchef dreams in our kitchen garden cottage. Team Curry, we may not have won, but gee we nailed a pun or two while converting everyone to turnips! Best staff bonding event ever.
We did this activity a few weeks back. Dried pasta and cous cous with bottles and weighing scales. My son loved it especially the cous cous, probably because that was the most messy 😂 he spent ages playing with it. I put the lid to the tray on the floor aswell so he could transfer the pasta and cous cous from tray to lid which kept him engaged for a good while. Also Great activity for teaching concepts such as heavy/light and big/little 💙
Last night I set up this quick invitation to create for Elsie to make and decorate bangles. After a busy week it was nice to sit down and spend ten minutes creating with her. We used @crayola felt tips and stampers, sequins and our trusty @littlebrianart paint sticks.
#funtimefriday tonight we had a sensory bath. It’s been a long week and bath time can be a battle. The bubble bath we are using is olbas bath (£1 from B&M) so it has the bonus of scent but also produces sticky bubbles that can be shaped, used for ‘ice cream’ and will stick to the tiles. We got the disco light for about £15 from Amazon. You could obviously add music, we didn’t as it would have been too much to then get him settled after, so you know your child and what would work best for them. This was a great way for me to do a bit of decongestant as his room is small so having actual olbas oil in there would be a bit too overpowering but he is full of cold. (When is he not 🤦🏽♀️). Sometimes we just want to get bed time done but I try and stop myself when I have got time and make it as fun and sensory as possible as a way to wind down from the day/the iPad! Maybe something you could try. Let me know what you think! 🌟

Come camping in Reception. ⛺️ 🔥 🌲
One of the role play areas this year, led by the children’s interests. We have a permanent home corner in Reception as we understand the importance for children to always be able to explore and imitate sequences they have seen at home and to also support individual and cooperative play. Our other role play area is then available to change according to the interests of the children within both Reception classes
I’ve used this activity a lot with young children to help develop their vocabulary but it’s also a wonderful one for being in the moment through the sense of touch 🤚 Plus children love it so I had to include it 😁

Busy Board 🌟 So sad to leave placement! As a leaving gift I made them this to keep their two little boys occupied 🌟 Deffo a challenge for me but would love to make more now I’ve got the hang of a drill 💪🏼🎉 #norlandcollege#norlandplacement#busyboard
A guiding hand. He wouldn't hold the hamster until she told him it was ok. If he's unsure he'll turn to her for a nod or a hand to be held. It has been the best thing about having children, watching their relationship unfold. She's so patient with him and although a 7.5 year age gap was not what we planned it is perfect ❤️ (he is absolutely raging when she won't build Lego Dino ninja monster towers with him)
We had a brilliant day @natural_history_museum today checking in their #lifeinthedark exhibition and finding out all about nocturnal animals and bioluminescence. A loved stroking the animals they had on display (you were allowed to stroke them!) and T loved the bat cave. Then, since we had a bit of time, we decided to pop over to @sciencemuseum and head to the #wonderlab where we explored their friction slides, scaled the walls using pulleys and and saw rainbows in the ice crystals!
It seemed like a pretty successful day...until I got home to discover I hadn’t switched the slow cooker on at the wall 🤦♀️
