He has since finished the book he was on and another one.
So far he's finished 9 in this series this summer 😱
We've been looking at options for extra curriculars for the fall and he asks "is there one for reading? Because I'll join that one" 😁
What do your kids do? We're looking at swim team on top of the usual piano lessons.
He's done basketball, swim lessons, circus school, karate... He's not really a sports kinda guy but we'd like something active.

My little girl singing Patriotic songs on occassion of Independence day.
She sang 2 songs 'door hato duniya walo' and the very tough 'Vande Mataram' . She learnt it all in 4 days.
It's important for children to participate at every occassion whenever possible so that they overcome their stage fear. My daughter went on stage for a contest for the first time when she was 1.5 yrs. She always enjoyed dancing and her first dance was at a family wedding when she was hardly 1 year old. That time she was not at all conscious of the people watching her. Today also she readily agrees to participate in every competition.
But when children start understanding that there are people observing them, automatically the stage fear creeps in.The more they perform it becomes easier for them to be confident on stage. Its important to assure them that even if they are not able to give their 100% or may be just freeze on stage or forget few lines its fair enough as participating is more crucial. Rather than being a critic we can become their motivating factor. Slowly they will improvise and will learn to conquer the stage.
Happiest Independence Day!

Y’all, yesterday was amazing! I took the boys to an open house event at Crystal Sea Drama Company. It was exactly what we have been looking for. There were so many classes to choose from. Evan is going to take a tech class and a production class. In the production class he will get to perform in Animal Farm✨✨✨
Wyley is going to take an improvisation class and a Shakespeare Performance class. He will get to go with the Shakespeare class to two different Renaissance Festivals to perform in a competition🎉🎉🎉
We are so excited for what this year is going to hold for us.
Now we are off to the library to borrow Animal Farm because Evan hasn’t unpacked his copy and he says he wants to reread it about three more times 😂😂😂
EXTRACURRICULAR 🤔.. A common parenting challenge is determining a healthy amount of extra-curricular activity for children. This is a tricky question, as every child & family are different. I have noticed that some parents seem to feel pressure to fully occupy their children with sports, choir, dance, languages, coaching, art etc. Although usually well intentioned, too many activities can contribute to individual & familial stress. Particularly, if combined with inadequate sleep or a poor diet.
As parents, it is pivotal to reflect upon what your child REALLY needs & consider their wants and preferences. Over scheduling or forcing children to do activities that they hate can cause children to feel exhausted, anxious, depressed and unheard. Sadly, this contributes to the growth of mental health problems in children & adolescents, leading to adult psychological issues.
Unfortunately, many children are overdoing extracurricular activities, for many reasons including parental FOMO, parental aspirations, child enthusiasm or giftedness. I feel concerned looking at the hectic schedules of some busy kids, particularly when you consider that they need time to socialise, play, do nothing, sleep properly, have family time & do homework. Eg. I hear many stories of depressed primary school children who are forced to do coaching college for chunks of their school holidays & after school, detrimentally impacting their social development & mental health.
Balance is pivotal for wellbeing, as are opportunities for new experiences, mastery & stimulation. As parents, we need have to remember that kids rely on us to guide them in this way, so that they can develop healthy self esteem, good self care habits and confidence.
