Ive been volunteering before I knew what it meant. It was a part of how I grew up and I never put much thought into it. I continue to volunteer because I enjoy it, I want to help others, and some times for the perks. Really this page is volunteer work too. Where do you volunteer? What does it mean to you??
Hoping everyone had a weekend filled with adventures and fun! I got out a bit with the camera, but spent a lot of my time learning a few new Photoshop techniques that I'm excited to show you in future posts! This is one that's pretty close to straight out of camera.
In case you haven’t figured it out, I’m a big old nerd. Along with my passion for reading books about ex-cult members, North Korea, and similar biographies... I like reading psychology and self-help. At this point it’s more like I skim as there isn’t a whole lot of new stuff in the psych world, or at least not a lot new to me. I’ve wanted to read/skim this one for awhile. So lucky for me @stoonlibrary supplies me nicely with my obsessions.
Make someone’s trip to the library even awesomer by paying someone’s late fines. Also, for yourself look for alternative programs at libraries. @stoonlibrary has had some cool forgiveness initiatives, including one where you just needed to hangout at the library.
9 days, 57 trees, 18 gingerbread houses, 5 special events, and countless volunteers to make this year’s Festival of Trees an amazing success! 🎄
We have 22 separate committee chairs who each look after a different aspect of the Festival to make it magical year after year. And the loveliest part? The committee chairs are all volunteers, a few of whom have been with the Festival for over 25 years!

On Dec 8th in 1980 John Lennon was killed. I always mark the day with some listening of his tunes and some times wearing something special. This is a throwback pic from my FB, but I liked how it looked. ❤️ 🎤
I used to work at a thrift store. I’m not even lying we would fill 1 or 2 large garbage bins A WEEK. And it was a smaller thrift store (village green clothing). Random lid, boring coffee mug from your union, muddy shoes, pilled sweaters, etc etc. All goes in the garbage or recycling. If you wouldn’t buy it... don’t donate it. Having said that donating your gently used items is awesome! Getting a box or bag of clean, nicely folded, or organized this was so awesome (and rare). And it really helps people. For some it’s those who appreciate a bargain, others they are on a budget and these options really help. Also the majority of non “brand” thrift stores the money goes to charity.

What an amazing night!! I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen a show that the crowd was rocking from the very first song until the very end! What a great night with awesome people! -

Got kind of sick of seeing the same snaps of the new traffic bridge. I went out in the fog last week with a plan. Aside from making a few motorists a little on the nervous side, (I had my tripod set up on the median at 6 am) I couldn't be happier with the final outcome.
