We finally made it up in the air for our hot air balloon ride this morning. We did have to go out to beaudesert when we originally wanted to be over the Gold Coast but actually seeing the sun rise over the mountains with some amazing mist really made up for it 😀
Recently when heading south from Brisbane to Tweed Heads the first stop for the day was at a coffee shop nearby to Tallebudgera Creek. The area is known as Burleigh West, but Tallebudgera Creek separates it from Palm Beach, and there is a nice pedestrian bridge to walk over.
From where we parked I thought it was just a swampy area, but as we wandered over the pedestrian bridge I soon discovered it was a rather wide section of the creek. Looking straight down there were some fish swimming around and I was surprised to find that the water was somewhat clear even though directly behind where I am taking this photo the Pacific Highway crosses the creek.
The Gold Coast as a city covers quite a long stretch of the coastline in South East Queensland from the Logan River in the north to the Queensland / New South Wales border in the south. The southern most suburb of th Gold Coast is Coolangatta and where I take you for todays photos is on the side of Marine Parade just below the Kirra Hill Lookout.
If you were to actually stand at this location to your right you can see Coolangatta Beach around to Snapper Rocks. While to your left you can see the long expanse of beach that goes from Kirra all the way to Currumbin. But this photo of course shows you neither of these. But what you can see oh so small on the horizon is the skyline of the more central Gold Coast area of Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach some 15-20km away.
Not to mention that this is winter in Queensland 😍👍
This here is Burleigh Lake and that is just a pelican floating on by. The Lake was nice and calm when I visited it earlier this week, and it looked like a lovely spot for a walk.
But the reason for my visit was more to grab a coffee at the great cafe not too far behind up, called Lakeview Espresso. What could be better than a great spot like this with a great coffee shop, not sure actually. If you are nearby to Burleigh Waters you should stop in and check out both.
A still windless night made for some nice crystal clear reflections of Surfers Paradise from Evandale Park. Was a fun shoot and catch up with fellow photographers

can anyone suggest some 🆒 places to explore around the GC? 🌲(as in a max 5 hours drive??? though i’m keen to roadtrip far and wide so gimme all awesome suggestions) 🍄✨
I love rock hopping, fossicking for pretty stones/gems and seeing weird animals/plants so anywhere like dat 😛💗
Took a little walk around Coolangatta today and to be honest the beach was looking more than a little flat. Not surprisingly there was also no one out on the their boards today with the lack of swell. But being that it was quite nice in the sun there were still a few people in the water.
We were so close to having one of the hot air balloons ready to take off yesterday when it was decided to call it off do to weather. hope next time we can make it off the ground.... @mads187
Well this mornings hot air balloon ride was literally a bit deflated in the end after driving multiple places to find a spot at Canungra but had to pack up before we took off due to winds up high. It was still a fun moring with lots of other photographers but we hope next time we can make it off the ground.... @mads187
