Its been about 5 days since I have been on the torch and boy do I miss creating. Scrolling through my Facebook memories, I stumbled upon this early shot of me taken by @str8glass on his ol' Beth GL50 circa 2014. I owe a lot to him and his wife, @jujuglass111 for showing me the ways of glass early on in my career. Im not sure what I was working on in this picture, maybe just some prep or maybe just figuring out what I was doing, pretty sure this was my first time ever using a lathe. Some of you may recognize this room at @american_glass_roots, back when this was the only place in the building to do torch work. Quite a lot has changed since then but my love for melting glass has only gotten stronger. Im incredibly thankful to everyone who had helped on my journey so far through the glass cosmos. Needless to say I cant wait to get back to creating on the torch lol Melt on!
I know you feel the way I change
But you can't change the way I feel
Sometimes I'm a stranger to you
One of a kind✨
This is my favorite piece of glass that I own. It has been packed away during a move, and holding it in my hands again to admire melts my heart in such a cheesy and sappy way.
I never thought I would gravitate towards a more classic style, and have never been the biggest fan of rainbow wags. But the second I held this piece in my hand, I knew I needed it. It felt like a missing puzzle piece. The way the tips of my fingers cradle the fumed accent, while the opal encasement balances against my palm (giving it the perfect leverage for my thumb to rest perfectly on the carb) is a better fit than any glass slipper. I’m not kidding when I say no piece has ever been functionally more perfect to me. @sighglass I appreciate every inch of this Sherlock, and it’s silly how emotional it gets me. 😂
