Back in the fall we made a short trip to Tokyo Disney and Tokyo Disney Sea, and I only took my Fuji xt1! Those of you who know me truly understand that this was a big step for me, but it turned out to be a wise move (you’ll see why in later posts!) I’ll try not to bore you all with a huge overshare, but I’m enjoying this visit down memory lane as I edit these images ;) so, enjoy our short visit to Tokyo Disney, starting out at the Narita airport of course ;)

This sweet little guy is two weeks old and still doesn’t legally have a name 😬 #workingonit If you wanna read more about it (and other cultural differences of having a baby abroad) his birth story is up on the blog under Travel With Kids. URL in comments as well.
These kids played from noon till 9pm. There were about 10 of them at one point. No fighting, no drama, just fun. And I know that my one slept pretty well as soon as her head hit the pillow.
This is the activity the kids have been most enthusiastic about. We discussed with our guide about traditional Sri Lankan mask making but let the kids go wild rather than try and direct them. #creativeplay
We'll try and pick up a traditional mask along our travels to display with the kids' colourful creations.
DRUM & DANCE LESSON Our 2nd excursion in Kandy was to learn the traditional Kandyan Dance and drumming.
Our host, Mr Sersoma has been performing for more than 30years and teaches in the studio above his home. It is a family tradition and he performs regularly with his father and brothers.
We learnt the basic moves and drum beats. My body was sore after about 10minutes. Mr Sersoma has to perform this dance for hours on end during the #KandyPeraheraFestival in August wearing a costume that weighs 13kg.
After the lesson we were treated to a delicious home cooked lunch.
It was a wonderful opportunity to be welcomed into the home of this lovely family.

TEA FACTORY VISIT
We travelled a little way out of Kandy, high into the hills to visit Orange Fields Tea Factory, where we learnt about the process of turning tea from fresh leaves into a cup of amber joy.
We were shown around by the factory chief, Sebastian his family has owned the business for generations.
The local tea farmers bring their leaves to the factory where it goes through a series of processes before being packaged and shipped off around the world for blending.
We all enjoyed the tour:
Hubby (a Mechanical Engineer) was interested in the technology
Master 3 liked the machines and was allowed to push some buttons.
Miss 2 liked to feel the texture of the leaves at different stages.
I loved learning more about my favourite drink and bought myself a box of delicious brew to enjoy at home.
A wonderful unique experience for us all. Thank you for arranging it @ayuinthewild
When you’re a child that moves around there are some things that are treasured deeply and fiercely - Yang and Popadom are two of those treasures - a sheep and a tiger, the best of friends... we always take photos of our little kids and their lovies but those that have stuck around, they’ve taken on a new level of importance in our kids memory spaces and hearts ♥️
Such a proud mama today as Chloe turns 9! A huge year of firsts tackled with enthusiasm, bravery and joy. The big first was getting baptised. Then moving across the ocean to a new life in Singapore. Starting an exciting new school and Chloe made many friends so quickly, she had her first ballet solo concert, her first place at an eisteddfod. She successfully auditioned into a French ballet school and also represented her school in football. Chloe also had her first violin concert and sung her first solo at school. We had our first trip to Tokyo, and skiing in Hakuba, first trip to Langkawi, Manila and KL. Chloe dressed as a McDonald’s cup, the queen of hearts and played Mary in the Christmas play, she went on her first school camp and slept over at the aquarium. Chloe walked out on the national stadium pitch at a champions Football game being player escort for the Chelsea FC captain and last of all she got her first ever mobile phone! We love our princess more than words can say and love sharing her world. Thanks to everyone who has helped to make her life and her birthday so special #singaporemackies#birthdaygirl#sayyestoadventure#expatkids#ldsmom#digitalnatives#whatayear
THE RIGHT IDEA // the nuggets of wisdom from the children today (needless to say, not MY children) have left us grown up’s in tears once or twice 💕 firstly there was ad hoc speech from a very perceptive almost 5 year old at her birthday party “you know what’s better than cupcakes? Friends!” 😭❤️🙏🏻 and later, when it came to a fairly significant (aka EMOSH) goodbye the boys were just like “ok see ya dude” 👋🏻 “yeah see ya in a few months” 😩😭👍🏻 and then just like that the sun goes down on another big day...and oh what a wonderful, laughter filled, joyous day it has been with our Singapore family ❤️
