A lot of the stories which came out during the interviews for the Military Ink exhibition were about family.
This tattoo shows the score of the Schindler's List Theme by Itzhak Perlman. The sitter explained:
'My Grandpa was in the Polish Special Forces and was taken prisoner in Treblinka. When me and my sister were young, he sat us down to watch Schindler's List, so we would be aware of what happened. I was learning to play the violin, and I told him that when I got good enough I would learn the music from the film and play it for him.
He died before I learnt it, but I learnt it anyway and can still play it today, so I can read the music which has been tattooed, I understand it.'
This photo is especially for our online followers as it doesn't feature in the main exhibition.

RepostBy @victoriaworksstudios: "Ceramicist and sculptor, Akiyama Naoko, is one of our residents producing work for 'Rodmarton Re-imagined' next month. Her piece will be a white ceramic cube entitled 'Mine', alongside a cast antique key, inspired by her visit to the manor and reflecting on the many keys and keyholes she found within the house. The Art Museum of #Estonia , in collaboration with the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, has staged a much deserved solo exhibition dedicated to the talented portraitist Michael #Sittow . ‘Estonian Painter at the Courts of Renaissance Europe’ is now on view at the Kumu Art Museum in #Talinn from 8 June to 16 September. To commemorate this ground-breaking exhibition nearly 500 years after Sittow’s death, we look back on his ‘Portrait of a man with a rosary’, sold by Dickinson. This sensitive portrait of an anonymous member of the Netherlandish bourgeoisie was likely originally intended as the right wing of a diptych, united with a depiction of the Virgin and Child. The semi-circular strokes detailing the shading of the fingers, the subtle placement of highlights on the bridge of the nose, and the application of highlights around the eye-lids render the work a particularly fine example by a true master of his craft.

“We’re talking about someone who’s intrigued by the emotional sides of how technology essentially takes up our life. I think @mirandajuly possesses an amazing capacity to observe and shine visibility to these banal details of the everyday life.” — Mariana Pestana (@m.pestana), Co Curator of The Future Starts Here at @vamuseum
🌈☁️‘Your Sky May Be Surfaced 🌈☁️Inside’. Tempera on linen. 120 x 100 cm .
“Whereas my previous works used colour to celebrate the spectacle, I recently started thinking about what would happen if colour was taken out of the equation. After studying the blueprint designs used in preparation for my public art projects, I became fascinated by line, and how at times it offered more imaginative possibilities than colour. Can total immersion be achieved through the simplicity of line alone?”.
#yourprivatesky on view now @kristinhjellegjerdegallery until 1 Sep. Artist Talk 29 August. .
“The technology that we’re producing and optimistically endorsing have inevitable consequences, which we’re already beginning to understand with our so called ‘progress’.” — Mariana Pestana (@m.pestana), Co Curator of The Future Starts Here at @vamuseum
