Just seeing this bullsh*t is surreal. Nah, I couldn't have lived then. I would have taken a sledgehammer to the wall. This type stuff infuriates me...#realtalk .
Honestly, too many #emotions just looking at this wall...😔😒
“MAKE YOU SEE WHAT I SEE”
MA Art Exhibition
2018.7.13(Fri) 〜 7.22(Sun)
at PULP @pulp_gallery

MA is holding his second solo exhibition of the year titled “Make You See What I See”, following “Sapience in Tokyo in 2018” in March at Anagra.
The exhibition is composed of three new series of works and explores the method “collage” which is indispensable to MA’s works.
Not just paper collages but MA intentionally cuts and pastes words or sentences generated from different ideas floating around and draws the drip letters with paint, all of which he defines as “collages”.
Both “The Craps” series, which involve hitting, burning, cutting and stamping iron slates with the letters, and “Untitled” series, which are drawn by aggressively tearing apart the letters, create works by destruction, which is the polar opposite concept of conventional creation or production process.
The “Word” series are made of photo collages and present MA as a “witness” who sees destruction and deconstruction of buildings that are a destructive act surfaced in everyday life.
Destructive acts attached to the works – It is a statement of discomfort and suspicion towards people who behave as automatic machines in the system of the civilized society, in other words, it is an act of resistance and the collages send the confrontational message “I make you see what I see” to you violently and randomly.

MA was born in 1985 in Japan and lives in Tokyo.Since his first solo exhibition opened on 24 Feb 2012, “BORN IN JAPAN” with the statement “F*** you, I won’t do what you tell me”, he has worked both in Japan and abroad. Recently, he has been painting with a focus on the consistent themes, “Tokyo”, “capitalism” and “humanity”, never restrained by so-called “genre” or “style”, he expands the scope of expressions and deepens it.
Shaarim Sahat's "Daerah Ruwat" travels up north to ChinaHouse for two separate 2-week runs, the first from July 17 to August 2, and then for another two weeks in September. The Penang leg of the exhibition will feature most if the works exhibited during its KL run earlier this year. So drop by ChinaHouse for a viewing if you happen to be in the neighborhood 😊 #exhibition#art#northernrun#daerahruwat#ChinaHouse#ArtemisArt
