Students in 6th grade are learning how to graph equations with Coordinate Plane Battleship. @kaitlynpaige21 will always look for ways to make middle school math engaging! #mathteachers#mathliberation#eurekamath
Mommy school is in session since regular school is out for snow (yes I’m that mom that makes my kids work on days off). My oldest has been struggling with math so I put up some ‘answers’ & gave her post-its with the ‘equation on it. I would like to say it went well but her hatred of math runs deep for a 6 yr old. After the tears & self doubt she figured it out, I gave her some simple math after to boost her confidence. My youngest is 4 & is working on letter recognition & writing so I hung our uppercase felt pockets up (from target non-dollar bin) & cut up index cards with all the lowercase letters for him to put in pockets. Next he used the felt pictures for beginning letter sounds into each pocket. When my eager learner was done he started adding dots to letters following the correct way to write letters. I had to redirect him a couple times as he just wanted to add dots along line but I really wanted him to have a better idea of letter formation. He thought this was fun & asked for more letters. This was great for letter learning & fine motor skills. #preschool#finemotorskills#eurekamath#teachingmom

📍Proud teachers moment!!📍Today’s math lesson let students use the most efficient strategy to solve subtraction problems. We took that as an opportunity to use parallel teaching in our classroom! We chose how to split the groups based on what we’ve seen in class and on exit ticket assessments, with one group solving using drawings at our back mega table & the other using number bonds at the front carpet. Today’s math lesson was a total success, with 94% of the class crushing the exit ticket by using the strategy they practiced 🙌🏼💪🏼 #proudteachers#teachermoments#firstgradefun#eurekamath#coteaching#teachersfollowteachers#teacherssupportteachers
I am so passionate about teaching students the why behind the math that they are doing. I want them to have deep conceptual understanding. So when my students were using a butterfly method, and couldn’t explain why, I wanted to take the time to work with them. I wanted them to know that it’s more than “whatever you do to the top you do to the bottom.” So today, we went through the same problems using the butterfly method that they had learned previously along with two other ways to deepen their understanding. Henry Ford once said “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.” #bethechange#stemisabiggsdeal#eurekamath#iteachfifth#teachersofinstagram
Do you teach Eureka Math for Kindergarten? Our district does and I remember feeling SO overwhelmed when we started because each lesson is packed with so much. Fast forward a few years, I have been putting together PowerPoints to go with each lesson in each module as a way to keep me on track while teaching. I’m being completely honest when I say these PowerPoints have changed my math teaching life! If you’re interested in trying these out grab them tomorrow or Tuesday to get them 20% off! You can buy them individually or as a growing bundle (which is your best deal as I add each module the price will go up!) Check out the link in my profile and DM me with any questions 😘 #kindergarten#kindergartenteacher#kindergartenmath#tptcybermonday#eurekamath#iteachk#iteachmath#tptsale#teachersoftpt
We took a field trip to a farm today, seeing our Wit and Wisdom module come to life! I had 7 check out after the field trip, so these kiddos got to sit and watch a movie and have an extra long recess when we came back. Seeing these cute kids have so much fun on our field trip made me love my job even more. Thankful to be their teacher. ❤️
The Eureka Math program is in full swing in our Pre-K B class. Students build on their knowledge of matching groups up to 6 to the numeral that tells how many. They even had a chance to snack on the gold fish!
When you give your third graders the question 5x 9, you stand back in awe at all the strategies they used to solve the problem. Y’all they had more and were bummed when I had them stop! 🤩 They are really grabbing onto the fact that math is about the process, not the answer!
I’ve never seen anything more beautiful than an entire classroom who finally ”got it” with Eureka-after starting it this year (with no prior years experience for them) and to think 🤔 this was a concept I taught in Jan-Feb with that “traditional” method... and it took WEEKS. This took 2 DAYS!!!!! 🙌🏼🎉 #teachersfollowteachers#teachersofinstagram
