Just doodling. I picked up @allikdesign book, How to Draw Modern Florals. I’m obsessed. I can’t wait until her next book comes out (the day before my bday). 😬 Brainstorming ways to incorporate these flowers into something for the shop. #modernflorals101
This week it is our great pleasure to introduce you to Midlands Maker @sue_bibby_embroidery. ‘I work from my home studio in Moseley, Birmingham where I create individually embroidered pieces using free machine and hand embroidery techniques.
Embroidery is the perfect way to combine my passion for drawing and stitch, allowing me to work in detail using thread and fabric. The sewing machine needle becomes my pencil and the fabric my canvas!
Keeping a sketchbook is a vital part of my practise. Through mixed media experimentation and observational studies I can gather and develop ideas and collect information for future reference. Much of my inspiration comes from the natural world and my collection of illustrated vintage books which provide a wealth of ideas and stimulus.
My product range includes pictures, cards, brooches and badges, cushions, purses and glasses cases.
I sell my work through local Arts Markets, Craft Fairs and Galleries and was delighted to be selected for the Bovey Tracey Contemporary Craft Festival this year.
My work has been featured on the Emporium page of the Country Living Magazine.’ http://www.suebibbyembroidery.co.uk/ #midlandsmakersuk#handembroidery#etsyuk#etsysellers#makersofinstagram#suebibbyembroidery
It's time to introduce my self!🎉
My name is Marta, I'm from Madrid. My grandmother taught me how to sew. 👶
As time went on I started fixing my own clothes and sewing costumes... Until that hobby became my vocation. 👩 🎓
So I studied tailoring and pattern making. Little by little everything everything my grandmother taught me and what I learnt during my studies made sense. I've worked as dressmaker making wedding dresses and right now besides of Etsy site I have a job making theater costumes.
So, that's it, this is me 🙋
Made and remade two trees of life! ❤🌳 I really loved making these and cant wait to make various more sculptures in the future! Both of these beauties are available and will also be on display for this weeks festival. ☺
Hecho y rehecho dos árboles de la vida! ❤🌳 Realmente me encantó hacer esto y no puedo esperar para hacer varias esculturas más en el futuro. Ambas bellezas están disponibles y también estarán en exhibición para este festival de semanas. ☺

My confession? I have a love affair with purple...⠀
I know, I know, it's too steamy to even talk about, but I need to get it off my chest. I've been carrying this secret for far too long...⠀
In all reality though I wanted to talk a little today about the things that inspire us, more specifically, color. I've always been someone who feels emotions more strongly around certain colors. I've always hated red, never cared for yellow, and it has to be the right shade of orange or the right circumstance for it for me to like it. (Ahem...fall colors anyone?!)⠀
I've always been someone who leans more towards the cool end of the color spectrum. In high school it was blue and white. And then I started to really get into purple. I felt calm when I saw purple, it made me happy. ⠀
When I started planning my wedding, there was never any question about what my colors would be. It was purple white and silver. Those colors were what essentially made up me. When I started my business it was the same thing. Puple and gray and white. ⠀
I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I'm a firm believer in doing what makes you happy and works for your best life. Purple makes me happy. It works for me. It soothes me. So I think it's safe to say it's sticking around. ⠀
Tell me about something that is inspiring for you. What colors speak to you the most? Are you a bold primary, or soft neutrals kind of person?
do you see what I see?! 😻
