Meanwhile, festivity is on the air. Have you achieved your 2018 New Year Resolution?
If not, have you doubled your hustle? The year isn't over until it is finally over.
Note to self and to you: Hustle legitimately.
His literary career started when he was just 10 years old. It would become his bread and his weapon.
At one time Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn was an ardent communist and military officer.
Until, after witnessing rape and pillage, and suffering the cold, labor, and torture of the gulag, he went on to become one of the most formidable foes of the Soviet regime.
Solzhenitsyn would win the Nobel prize for his fiction, and would write devastating criticism of the ideological distortion of authentic human values that would unleash the Russian Revolution.
This week marks the centennial of his birth.
Remember the line that runs through every heart. Remember Solzhenitsyn.

Funny Fact: I don’t personally know any family with whom I share the surname of Walker. Why? Well, I have never met the paternal side of my lineage.
I grew up an only child and raised by a single mother. And although I do not know the intricacies or their relationship, what I do know is that he was not around, and I was left with only an idea of what he and HIS family were like. It wasn’t until years after my mother passed that I even considered forming a relationship with him.
In a discussion with my partner the other day, I debated whether or not I would embark on a journey to reconnect with this man, my father. His siblings, his parents (if they’re living I’m unsure), and his son, my brother. Soon after I stumbled into one of my favorite NODA thrift shops, The Rats Nest, and came across these old army pants, my last name stitched right across the hiney. As a big believer in signs, I took this to be my confirmation. Although I am currently without any contact information, I am making it apart of my next years mission to find the other half of me. Stay tuned. 🗺🧩
"I miss you when I look at your photos," he'd said, "I want burrow in your dreamy apartment, surrounded by your books, your paintings, your flowers and your candles." •
It’s a shame that he didn’t simply want to be near but at least she remembered why she’d left. •

Hi hello I am pretending to be High Femme. Here’s my version of Joan from #madmen for a Madmen-inspired 1960’s 🎄🎉 ala @philipgustin + @austinhelms 💚❤️💚 •
Two things about this: I can’t believe women were expected to look this way EVERYDAY for work and also I had a v interesting conversation re: gender identity with my beloved after watching Transparent (which is amazing, btw.)
Do I feel like a woman? Totally...I guess? But what...does that even mean? Does it even have an inherent meaning? I’ve had both straight people *and* members of the queer community assume things about me immediately because I read as “femme” - assumptions about my gender, preferences and identity. •
Politically, culturally, socially, metaphysically: I think it’s a rebellious act to continuously ask yourself “is what I’m thinking based on what I’ve been taught to think?” “Are my thoughts repurposed from my upbringing, my family, society at large?” •
We can’t be truly free until we aim for original thought. And yeah, “original thought” is rare but it’s a worthy ideal. You’re not a carbon copy - so don’t let carbon copy thoughts run your life. #staywild
