You told me
some of the stars
After it explodes,
it still shimmers.
the stars I see then.
You're gone already,
but you still
haven't fully left.

Majority of the private sector schools, educational providers and systems in Nigeria are currently geared at aiming and prepping students for higher level education abroad. Schools have curriculums that deliberately focus students to sit foreign exam boards and attaining admissions into schools and colleges abroad. So invariably not everyone is going to be included especially the underprivileged! This tells us the education system in the country is failing standards! We want to change the rhetoric, role models like Mr Soyinka studied in Nigeria from primary to university, attended government funded public schools at a time when we had world standard education systems. At P2P we believe that can be the case again, we are actively campaigning for this and for ways to make education accessible to all. PLEASE JOIN US! PLEASE SUPPORT the @p2pnigeria PATH20 campaign this month. Thanks

The Pivot: A new job, loss of job, the break up, the move, the uncertainty, the diagnosis, the eviction, the crash, the CHANGE, unsolicited or not, is your pivot. And although it can be scary or traumatic even, it is this change being promoted by the universe that places you exactly where you need to be in this life. A pivot can position you into your purpose, and there...is where you will find your peace. ♥️AJ
This is the cover for one of three novellas. Please check out my last post “Blackwoods” for all the details! I’ve been creating an alternative world and all sorts of supernatural beings. This is the story focused on a really cool and very interesting vampire. I just love her. Each of the three is kind of like a little biography on different characters, although all three stories have the other characters in them because they are a family of sorts. I really feel like my sickness has changed me. I just don’t give a damn like I used to. I vowed never to share my writing. Now, there are no rules but the ones I set when it comes to what I create. Art is for everyone and I see it in everything. I also have tremendous respect and a healthy side of envy for talent. I’m happy that I’ve finally reached the point where I don’t care and feel compelled to share things I’ve learned, that I have on my mind and in my heart. I believe you should do your thing and put it out there even if you think it “sucks.” Art heals and transforms. We are creative beings. It comes from your soul. No, not everything is “good” but if you have something that needs to be said, one way or another—visually, through writing, singing, design—then I think we have a responsibility to do it. Otherwise, why would the Universe put the passion in our hearts?
Anyway, check out my last post. I think being an anthropologist/psych was the best thing I could be to build worlds. It’s like creating cultures and societies and that’s what appeals to me about fiction. I’m still exploring what I am capable of in this area, but I love it. In my 1st creative writing class in college I had zero confidence, so when my professor said I definitely had a career in writing if I wanted one? Let’s just say I treasure that compliment, and I want to see where fiction writing takes me. 🔥in my belly. Dear Universe, please heal me. I might explode. #writer#writersofinstagram#writerscommunity#shortstories#fiction#poetrycommunity#prose#essay#essayist#urbanfantasy#supernatural#paranormal#newblog#newblogger#mythology#writersofig#writersoninstagram#writerofig#writersnetwork
I’d like you all to meet Rowan Holly, my alter ego (pen name). I write fiction under this name. I write urban fantasy (or whatever want! I started to write a series of stories about all sorts of fantastical creatures I imagined, and yes, vampires. I know a lot of people are over vamps but, yea, don’t care! Because I love them and always will. Plus, I got really fuming pissed at the audacity of some writers claiming vampires can only be one way, and attacked authors with alternative mythologies about them. See, we are myth-making creatures and if we weren’t busy making meaning in our lives to explain all sorts of experiences and happenings, then we wouldn’t have the vampire concept to recreate for modern times! I keep my stories tight because I like my ideas to stay with me, but I’m going to be doing poems pulled from some short stories like this one.
I don’t have any idea when I will finish or publish for obvious reasons, but I WILL be posting stuff on my new blog, including research (in lay terms) and essays for those who want to know more about what it is I devoted fifteen years of my life too before crap happened! If you are interested in anthropology, psychology, human behavior in general, world mythology, belief systems and worldview then you may find it interesting. I became a college professor at just 27 and I already came to my doctoral program with a Master’s in psychology. I have lots of plans! 😋 Been wanting to introduce this part of myself for a while. Thought it would be a good time. Writing is the one thing I can do no matter what’s going on. I keep a journal under pillow at all times. More to come in the blog and collaborators I’ll be looking for! ❤️ to you. —Dia (Rowan) 😉 #writer#writersofinstagram#writerscommunity#shortstories#fiction#poetrycommunity#prose#essay#essayist#urbanfantasy#supernatural#paranormal#newblog#newblogger#mythology#writersofig#writersoninstagram#writerofig#writersnetwork
