Should you be worried?! Well, apart from EPOC burning calories for up to 48 fat hours after your workout, the only hurdle would be to make sure you don’t pull a hammie! 
1. Don’t recommend doing beach workouts more than once a week.
2. If you haven’t done this before or in a while then start slowly!

3. Shoulders down, back straight, head upright 
4. Keep your wrists loose with fingers slightly curled 
5. Drive your knees forwards and high like pistons 
6. Land on your mid-foot, not your heels, for maximum speed

Often we hear the term ‘training in the fat burning zone’ as if there’s some mystical zone or physiological state we need to achieve before we burn fat.
•
Unsurprisingly this simply isn’t true.
•
The confusion tends to centre around elevated heart rate.
•
Training at higher heart rate (for example HIIT training) will cause an increased rate of oxygen intake post exercise (EPOC) due to the strenuous nature of the exercise as opposed to steady state cardio like jogging but that does not place you into a ‘zone of fat burning’.
•
This strenuous exercise may increase your calorie burn post exercise by around 13% as opposed to the 7% steady state will increase it by but importantly both activities can burn fat, one is not better than the other.
•
Our advice would be to simply find an exercise you enjoy and burn calories and fat in a way that suits you best.

O mais interessante é que o EPOC está mais associado à intensidade do exercício do que a duração.

Cardio deadlift day lol. Disappointed with 4 plates for 12 reps tap and go, was hoping for 15. 
Then the damn actual cardiovascular nitro boosted hot breathed demon scorcher from hell which puts your glutes on fire set, 2 plates speed deads tap and go for 35ish reps. Hoping to get to 50 soon enough. Doing one ultra high rep compound set with some moderate weight at the end of the workout is going to set your metabolism on fire and get the crazy epic EPOC afterburn going like nothing else. Be careful if doing it with deads tho, I would rather recommend 40 rep squats.

RECOVERY: not sleep, soft tissue work or how many hours between sessions but literally the 10-15 mins following a tough Lactic Threshold style MetCon.

It’s become almost synonymous with a tough workout, you finish at a heart rate of 180+, slump yourself down slowly dying and spend the next 10 minutes moaning, twitching uncontrollably and painting sweat angels all over the gym floor. Look over my past videos and there’s instance upon instance of this.

I know it’s not smart, I tell my members and clients to not do it, but I still do it, coz I’m an idiot. In athletics you never see sprinters sprawling themselves onto the track after a 400m sprint, I’m pretty sure they were pushing themselves to their limits too.

The reality of it is, your best bet is to keep moving around. Physically, this will help accelerate the removal of the byproducts of the workout, lower the acidity within the muscles (which is what causes the burning) and help you get closer to a state of homeostasis. @hinshaw363 and @cameronnicholgb constantly talk about the importance of “clearing fatigue” so you can get back to work ASAP.

But the psychological benefits are also pretty (perhaps more) important. For yourself, getting up, walking around and regaining control of your breathing can massively change your state of mind. Personally, I’ve started trying to do laps around the gym practicing nasal breathing, after 2-3 laps (we have a pretty big gym) I’m good.

From another angle, in a competitive environment, laying on the floor in a pile of meat and bones blowing out of your asshole won’t exactly strike fear into the hearts of the opposition. I remember one of the greatest feelings whilst playing football was looking over at the defensive team; seeing them huffing and puffing with their hands on their knees. It has a tremendous effect on confidence and ultimately performance. In CrossFit, @mikkosalo63 calls it #SISU

Again, this isn’t ground breaking stuff coaches like @_brianmackenzie have been talking about this for quite some time.

There’s a lot more to it than I can put into an IG post. But for now it’s a simple tweak. Give it a shot and tell me what you think.

Closing in on two months since joining #otf.  Down 8 lbs since joining, 15 lbs since may 1. I started out not able to do lunges, plank jacks and a few other exercises because my knee felt so unstable. I was power walking (3.4mph) for all of our tread blocks. Now I’m able to do each type of workout given (though sometimes I modify my last set of my knee is feeling wobbly), and I run all my all outs at  6mph. My next goal is to start running my short push blocks so I can build up to running all of it. 😍
As much as I love the workouts and how I feel after, halfway through I’m always like “this is so hard. Why do i do this?” So I just remind myself, “because I can do hard things.”
