LOST 95% ARCTIC ICE??!!?!?! 😨😰😡😱😨😰😡Today’s news in The Washington Post. What can we do to reverse this climate change impact? Or is this jumping ahead? Maybe I should be asking if people even know the impact of climate change before I can get to the point of asking if we can work to reduce or stop this impact? #everyactioncounts#environmentalawareness#canichange
Lake Tahoe views are breathtaking - and the Education Center project team at the Tahoe/Truckee campus of the Sierra Joint Community College District wanted to ensure that it was dedicated to being sustainable in such a renowned environment. Some of the features that helped this building achieve the first California Community College LEED Gold certification in the state are: ~90% of the flooring is color integral polished concrete ~Switching Zones that respond to changes in daylight levels ~Sky lights and windows provide plenty of daylighting ~Reuse of site boulders and timber for landscape amenities ___________________________________

The day before our big Christmas party with the three schools Leela's Love Foundation has built, we thought we would give a big shout out to Born Again Afrikan Ghana Soul Food in Atimpoku who will be accommodating all of us.
Once a week, I give myself a treat by heading to the beautiful Lake Volta, enjoying a cold beer and eating a delicious meal. Combined with an amazing view and wonderful company, I cannot recommend this place enough.

Wrapping beautiful presents for the holidays can create a lot of trash, thanks to all of the paper, bags, bows and ribbons. They may look amazing sitting under your tree for a few days, but within seconds of being opened, the garbage bags quickly fill up. Gift wrapping is one of the most wasteful parts of the holiday season, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
Zero-waste gift wrapping can help you have a lower impact this holiday season. Wrapping paper alternatives: newspaper, paper grocery bags, fabric, butcher paper, etc

Many animals are on the list of going extinct which could dramatically influence our ecosystem!

Besides being the brand initials, the WE on the front of our shirts represents the importance of community and togetherness. As we all know, when it comes to making a positive impact, the more, the merrier. Community is everything to us and we promise to bring as much love and goodness as WE can 🤜🏼🤛🏼.

"Before 1940, the incidence of breast cancer developing in women with the BRCA mutation was 24 percent. By 2013, the incidence was greater than 85 percent. What changed to cause that extraordinary leap in occurrence of the disease from this mutation? Not the gene; genes can't and don't change. It was the environment influencing the gene's expression that changed: diet, exercise, other lifestyle behaviors. Alter the environment and you alter the way the genes express themselves in response-- and the health outcome. It all depends on the message the gene receives." -Exerpt from "The Disease Delusion" by Dr. Jeffery Bland.
If you have not read The Disease Delusion yet, YOU NEED TO. I am enthralled with the science behind "Chronic Illnesses" and how they can best be treated. •••
Though I have not tested my biomarkers, I am constantly told by doctors to be prepared since Breast cancer has presented itself on both sides of my family. I am really excited to learn that by changing the foods I eat, the amount I exercise, and the products I use in my environment, I can drastically DECREASE my chances of having breast cancer. Making those lifestyle changes sound MUCH better than jumping to having a double mastectomy (IF I were to have the BRCA mutation.) 🌿🌿🌿🌿
I am all for western medicine. If I have a sinus infection, I want the antibiotic that will kick it to the curb the fastest. HOWEVER, I am learning that when it comes to chronic illnesses, there just isn't a "pill-for-an-ill", one quick and easy fix. SO MANY factors come into play when it comes down to chronic illnesses. And most of those factors have to do with our environment. The mental state we allow ourselves to be in, the foods we eat, the cosmetic and cleaning products we use, and the amount of exercise we get. 💄💄💄💄
I am thankful for @younglivingeo for making cleaning products that promote a healthy environment. I am thankful that @beautycounter has made the cosmetic switch to clean beauty easy for me. And I am now working on learning how to alter the foods my family consumes. Looking forward to eliminating my high blood pressure, hubby and babys digestive issues, and LORD KNOWS WHAT ELSE
It was a great experience for Leela's Love to have an international singer/songwriter come and visit the village and one of the schools for a little sing-along. Limor Ballas hails from Tel Aviv in Israel and was invited by the Israeli Embassy to perform in the capital city. A chance meeting between the singing star and village girl provided an opportunity for the two to share a special bond with the children and even a local church choir. And she LOVED the Trashy Bags! Check out her Facebook profile @limorballas.
Plastic bags has a very short lifetime on average. One of the major reasons for plastic pollution.
Some countries are banning plastic bags, others are restraining their use. Still a long way to go!

Stop sucking through plastic and let’s save some turtles! 🐢
Just take a look at this photo; the purity of the water, the freedom the turtle has to be where it wants to be, free from the heartbreaking damage that single-use plastic causes to seas, oceans and marine habits all over the world. 🦈
No one wants to see our oceans and our planet being destroyed. By destroying the planet with the reckless actions of mankind, we only serve to destroy ourselves. ☠️
I hope people understand what this is about and don’t just use it as an opportunity to take selfies and talk about how they “care” on social media. Looking at melting ice doesn’t make you an environmentalist. I’m not doubting the art, I’m doubting the audience. #environmentalism#globalwarming#climatechange#environmentalawareness#environmentalistart @studioolafureliasson ・・・
Motivating changes to our behaviour requires an expanded strategy. We need to communicate the fact of climate change to hearts as well as heads, to emotions as well as minds. #icewatchlondon
A few shots from #Plogging in #tokyo 🗼! We were surprised at how much litter there was, even in #YoyogiPark (which is known to be extremely tidy)... We at #SocialInnovationJapan are committed to environmental action and will continue to create opportunities for people of all ages (our youngest participant was a 1-year old!) to get involved -and have fun at the same time :) We'll be hosting more Plogging in the future, so keep your eyes peeled if you want to work up a sweat in the company of good people, enjoy the outdoors, and learn more about the issues of waste and pollution in #japan 🇯🇵🏃♀️💪 #EnvironmentalAwareness#EcoWarriors#GreenLiving#PlasticPollution
When I’m not in leggings, i pretty much dress like Steve Jobs 99.9% of the time, which makes minimal living surprisingly easy to do! 🙌🏼 .
Before becoming a yoga teacher, i worked (and still do) in fashion and until recently never gave the byproducts of the industry a second thought. Watching #fashionsdirtysecrets a few months ago was a huge eye opener, i was horrified to learn that it’s the second largest polluting industry on the planet 🌍😱. .
We’re discovering more everyday about the real cost of our consumer habits and it feels overwhelming and impossible to live an existence that isn’t damaging in some way, but awareness itself shapes our attitudes and that’s a pretty good place to start. .
By making a conscious effort to scale back on buying clothes, choosing quality over quantity, supporting sustainable brands (where we can), sending what we don’t wear off to charity shops, donating to friends or recycling can all help toward cleaning up the industry, and our planet. And I have to say It’s surprisingly satisfying to just keep and wear the few things you love. 👖☺️
We were super excited to handle the music and sound design for this series of videos for @unenvironment earlier this year and even more excited to see them finally go live. Sora Jiro has been an iconic character on Japan’s Nippon TV since 2007 and these videos give a new spin on the character. To learn more about the Sora Jiro and the campaign itself check out the link in our bio!

I absolutely am a product of the product! I use these oils every day all day. The list of oils and oil infused products that I use before 10 a.m. is pretty darn impressive!. Knowing that I have reduced my exposure and my family's exposure to environmental and household toxins has been absolutely transformational and love changing. The health benefits of being #pharmafree have been priceless.
A new discovery shows that moss has the ability to detect minor changes in air quality, giving us a sustainable and inexpensive way to indicate pollutants in the air. Who knew such old plants could help us protect our future.
Now that the children have significantly developed their wood sculptures and brought them to life through their stories and depictions, we wanted to engage them as a group. We asked the children if they had questions about each other’s sculpture and they asked their peers about the details of their sculptures becoming more familiar with each other’s work. We then asked the children if these sculpture “places” were in the same town or city where would they be placed in relationship to one another. The children confidently placed their structures near each other and explained why. They said the beach house would be near the underwater home because they are both by the ocean and next to the beach house would be the water tower which pumps water from the ocean and makes it available for fire engines. And on the other side of the beach house the children places the purple unicorn land sculpture because they said the unicorns like to run on the beach in front of the beach house. Near the beach house they placed the car sculpture saying the visitors of the beach house needed a car to drive in. We were very excited to see the children connecting their sculpture ideas. It meant that they understood the work of their peers and valued collaboration. Most of all they saw the relationships between their sculpture stories!
Next we plan to expand on these sculpture stories with the children to see what obstacles/challenges can arise and what ideas the community could offer. For instance if the beach house produced a lot of garbage and it accidentally polluted the ocean then how would this effect the underwater home and the water tower? #reggioinspired#collaborationovercompetition#earlychildhoodeducation#environmentalawareness
