#kotokobootcamp#marathondecotedivoire#journeedelapaix
This isn’t to bash exercising or group model. Group model helps A LOT of people. And there is absolutely a place for it in the fitness world.
The biggest difference between training and exercising is FOCUS.
Training focuses on the individual, meets the person where they are, and challenges them appropriately to progress them toward their goal.
You can ONLY do this on an individual basis, a group model won’t cut it.
It doesn’t have to be some brilliant sexy design either. There is beauty in simplicity. Entertainment and Effectiveness are two different things.
If you NEED Entertainment (constantly carried...), you are an exerciser, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
If you’re willing to do what it takes to achieve YOUR stated goals, training, with a Professional Coach, on an Individual Design, is the only way to go.
Introduced Amy to the Assault Bike today. She put in some amazing work 😅 Well done Amy 🙌🏽

Great new review on nutrition strategies to optimise performance from Burke & Hawley 🔬
Details in the images
“The exploits of elite athletes delight, frustrate, and confound us as they strive to reach their physiological, psychological, and biomechanical limits. We dissect nutritional approaches to optimal performance, showcasing the contribution of modern sports science to gold medals and world titles. Despite an enduring belief in a single, superior “athletic diet,” diversity in sports nutrition practices among successful athletes arises from the specificity of the metabolic demands of different sports and the periodization of training and competition goals. Pragmatic implementation of nutrition strategies in real-world scenarios and the prioritization of important strategies when nutrition themes are in conflict add to this variation. Lastly, differences in athlete practices both promote and reflect areas of controversy and disagreement among sports nutrition experts.”
“Even a bad run is better than no run.”
Boy did I need to see this quote this morning! Today was definitely a bad run. I woke up with the intention to run 12 miles, but because my stomach was a mess, I could only make it 8 miles. I hadn’t run since Tuesday, so I felt unmotivated, angry, and frustrated with myself. I thought to myself, “how am I supposed to reach my goal of a 3:40 marathon time if I can’t make it 12 miles today?”
I have been kicking myself all day for cutting my run short, but to be honest, my body just couldn’t take it. I have completely drained my body of any energy, motivation, or time with my full time classes, full time job, and 10+ hours of volunteering a week. I am exhausted. But guess what? ———————————————————————— I realized it’s okay to be exhausted and broken sometimes. It’s okay to be depleted and take time to allow yourself to mentally heal and fill back up. It’s okay to cut your training short, because you don’t feel good, or even take days off in between. Our body needs our support and it’s okay to listen to it.
I realized that even though today’s run sucked big time, I am still kicking butt in this life.
So, remember, it’s okay to listen to your body and it’s okay to not reach your running goal for that day. We are all human, and heck, a bad run is still better than no run.
Keep up the hard work, everyone and kick some serious asphalt (in life and in running)😊
