#elden &skogen #aimproduktion
This land is used to grow reeds, the ones used as roof thatching. 🏠
After doing some online research about my family history, I arrived in town at the Aylsham Heritage Centre at St Michael's Church. They helped me find where some of my family lived in the 18th and 19th centuries. I even walked right upon the land they lived.
This side of the road was land owned by my 3x great grandparents whose surname was Elden. I then found the church in nearby Banningham with Elden graves inside the church! It was kinda creepy just wandering into an empty church through the side-door, but it was amazing to see how much of my family history was recorded. I feel really lucky to have access to this information.
Across the road is an old farm house, where my great grandfather, whose surname was Potter, lived in the early 20th century. He was the most recent of my ancestors to travel to Australia, after joining the Australian infantry from England, then settling in Australia post WWI.
I suppose farming is in my blood 🚜
