Sonnet 116 - William Shakespeare 📝
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O, no! it is an ever-fixed mark,
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken.
Love’s not Time’s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle’s compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

Photograph of the spectacular gallery ceiling in Charleville Forest Castle once the home of the Bury Family, the Earls of Charleville. The castle in County Offaly began as the vision of one man named Charles William Bury, who became a Baron in 1797, a Viscount in 1800 and the Earl of Charleville in 1806. As the result of inheritance he was a man of independent means which allowed him to keep a house in London, mix in polite society and travel the continent. When the time came for him to build a home in Offaly, he had various ideas and he wanted to create a truly grand vision of a new ancestral seat for his family. Around the year 1800, it was the architect-de-jour, Francis Johnston who took Charles’s ideas and fleshed them out. Johnston took his clients crude sketches and combined them with his own architectural genius to produce the building that we see today. Despite Johnston’s achievements, Charles still saw himself as the castles architect.A craze now broke out among the landed classes who wanted their grand homes to incorporate all the decorative elements of a castle but none of the defensive features. Charleville has often been described as a Gothic masterpiece and is one of Francis Johnston’s most spectacular surviving creations. #gothic#architecture#johnston#offaly#charleville#castle#irishcastle#irishcountryhouse#interior#ceiling#plaster#plasterwork#ireland#eire

With Christmas just around the corner there’s so much to look forward to. I love cosy evenings by the fire with lots of food and movies. But I also love dusting off the cobwebs with winter walks to our local beach. 🌊 I picked up a few winter staples in @regatta_ireland to get me through the colder season. I love this white style 😍 It’s so warm and cosy yet stylish. There’s so many nice styles in @regatta_ireland at the moment and almost all were on sale! #winterwalks#home#regatta#sponsored#eire
