🎉 It's an exciting day over here! 🎉 My newest self-paced online course for designers is LIVE! Processes, Tools, and Workflows is all about how to take an e-design project from start to finish. A lot of folks told me that they were interested in learning JUST the tactical piece of e-design, so I decided to offer this new course specifically on that topic. 🙌 It breaks down the e-design process step-by-step, recommends the tools and tech to use, and helps you put it all together into a system that works beautifully. I'll show you the exact workflow I use for my client projects and by the end, you'll have your workflow nailed down and ready to go for your next e-design client! 💯 -
Head to bit.ly/edesignprocess to learn more and sign up, and feel free to DM me if you have any questions. I'm excited to finally get this into your hands!
Color matching is easy with neutrals, right? Well, in reality, "gray" isn't so black and white. (See what I did there? 😆) Gray can lean purple, or blue, for example. If you swipe through the following images quickly, you'll likely be able to clearly tell the difference between each of these gray tones, because you're taking them in consideration beside one another. But try to just sit with one full-color image at a time -- count to 5, then close your eyes and swipe to the next image. Count to 5 again. If you see any one of these colors in isolation, it probably just looks "gray." Color matching can take a little more consideration, after all! More on this topic tomorrow for #designtiptuesday !
The kitchen question I’m asked most is about my recommendations for counter-top material. There’s no one size fits all answer, but in terms of durability, look, and value, it’s hard to beat quartzite! It’s great for kitchens that get lots of use because it’s a lot more durable than granite or concrete. And it gives the lux look of marble. This stunning view is from the kitchen of @jen.dulac, my @trim_design_co cofounder and yep- that’s a quartzite counter! Double tap if you wish your kitchen looked this clean right now! I just got home from a trip and somehow mine’s already a mess 😂
#moodboardmonday This bedroom rendering is from our Trim Take on Boho Chic style a couple months back (you can read it on the blog!) and we’re still loving the eclectic cool of this space. It’s also a great example of correctly proportioned art- Did you know that art should be at least ⅔ the size of the piece of furniture anchoring it? Yep! It has to do with the golden ratio and creating proportions that are naturally pleasing to the human eye. So if your sofa is six feet long, you’ll want to choose something at least 4 feet long to hang over it. If you’re hanging a grouping, or two frames side by side, think of the entire grouping (including the spaces between them) as one object when making your calculation. #trimtips
Each year, an estimated 500 billion plastic bags are consumed worldwide. BYOB! Canvas and string bags are not only reusable, but stylish too! But be careful!: Reusable bags: Only superior to plastic if you reuse them - a lot⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Make sure you don't go crazy with purchasing new tote bags! First reuse the bags you already own! For example, a cotton bag would need to reused every day for a year before it offset the environmental impact of one plastic bag.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Trying to find pretty, comfortable, affordable outdoor dining chairs is like looking for a unicorn. I know it’s towards the end of summer, but where are the pretty chairs that aren’t metal?!

When a cool couple in NYC wants funky, bold, and eclectic, I jump all over it! These Brooklyn residents have a HUGE projector they use to watch TV and have an old school Nintendo like I do, so we were a perfect client - designer match on the @decoristofficial .. My fave is this first one, what one do you like best or which one did they like the most??! (Zoom in on the shelves in the first for a sweet Nintendo Van Gogh print) tap for some sources. #edesign#happymondayeveryone#moderninteriordesign

I’m working remotely on a project for a family who lives in DC. They have a young daughter and just want a few updates for her room - namely a new light fixture, a mirror for over the changing table (soon to be just the dresser) and a new lamp - they are open as to whether it is a table or floor lamp. I sourced some options for them to see which style they were into. Any of these would be so cute - as would a mash up of styles! I’m excited to see which way they go.
