Hey, what’s up, hello! I’m Mary Jane. I’ve got a story to tell and I’d love for you to tag along! Here’s a little before and after - at my heaviest I weighed in at over 280 lbs (the picture on the left). At age 7 I started gaining weight from emotionally eating and truth be told it never really stopped. Up until this point my life I was heavy and clinically obese. After seeing some illuminating photos after a trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom (stay tuned for those 😬) I knew in order to live a longer and happier life I needed to make some changes. I’m so glad you’re here, I have so much to tell you. 😏
I want to change your relationship with food. 🍏+🍔+🥑+🍩 = Sustainable Diet, Sustainable Lifestyle ❤️
That’s one of the things I love about #ThrivingLivesFitness 💪🏽
Do you feel that you have to restrict yourself of all the food you love?? Some people come to me with little understanding of what a “BALANCED DIET” really looks like...some people think they have to stay clear of anything tasty and stick to Rice and Chicken only... If I just described you, We Need To Talk...
Once my clients have been with me for a week, they understand the concept of balance. The key 🔑 isn’t dieting year around and not enjoying weddings, vacations, cook outs, etc.. It’s developing an understanding of what your body needs and how to manipulate your diet on a given day to give you both food freedom and not blow up your progress. —
If your “diet” leaves you not enjoying life, then it’s not worth it.. #Balance#FuelYourBody#FlexibleDieting#OnlineCoach#OnlineTraining#PersonalTrainer#MealPlans#WorkoutPlans#AchieveSuccessTogether
Oh hi it’s Grace and my skins being an attention seeking arsehole again how bout you?
In the past, the moment my skin breaks out I’m ALL OVER THAT SHIT... buying the most expensive face wash, steaming my face twice a day... oh and let’s not forget turning into a sugar fearing vegan.
But not this time ☝🏻
Ya see, I know why my skins breaking out again.
I’m having wayyy too many spoonfuls of sugar in my hot drinks... I’ve started drinking coffee, eating cheese, occasionally sipping the odd Diet Coke and overall not living the healthy ‘clean eating’ meal plan I followed for many years.
And don’t get me wrong, over the past few days when the lumps on my face have been extra painful, I’ve fully considered cutting certain food groups out of my diet, in order to feel in control of my skin’s appearance once again.
But I know the drill by now.
The moment I start following a strict, all you can eat broccoli diet... anorexia rears it’s ugly mug and pulls me back in.
So this time... I’m gonna eat all that sugar, I spent years denying myself of, embrace my spotty complexion and keep on indulging in my new found coffee romance.
But sure, acne is a pile of wank... but I’d choose a few spots over a life time of strict- eating disorder brain rules any day matey.
Going to India in a week!!! 💖 It’s been more than a year and I was missing home terribly 🙂 On that happy note, here’s what I had for lunch at @mulavi_midtown.. it’s a Mediterranean inspired restaurant and I got the saffron marinated chicken breast with rice, charred broccoli, tomatoes & onion - garlic sauce 🤩😈 #eatwhatyouwant#antidiet
Rice, greens, chicken, and eggs/egg whites. Pretty much sums up 90% of my diet. These foods keep me feeling full & energized, and can be prepared in a variety of ways.
Find what works for YOU. I think it's really important to not label the way you eat. I've made that mistake before. Not only do you put yourself in a box and have to explain your diet to people (not sure why everyone cares), but you create that guilty mindset around food you're "not supposed to eat.
I eat what I want. Sometimes I eat chicken, sometimes I eat vegetarian chicken. I eat A LOT of carbs. I keep the cheese to.a minimum because of my stomach. I eat spicy foods often. I'm a veggie freak. I love mixing a dash of dressing into my meals for added flavor and moisture. I also love pizza, chips, and ice cream. Not paleo not vegan not vegetarian not keto not anything. Just food I like going into my gullet 😋
Dinner is yummy! Orzo sundried tomato pasta salad, a bean, barley, chickpea and quinoa salad with ginger and sweet chilli dressing , tina with ltl mayo and a green salad of spinach, cucumber, tomatoes and beetroot!
I know all my trainer friends get this! Every time I walk up on someone who has food, they feel the need to explain that this is their cheat meal, or they're going on a diet next week, or this is their carbs for the day...I didn't ask!! You're not my client, you don't pay me to stay in your behind about your eating. As a matter of fact, you're grown! We don't care if you're indulging-good for you! We don't care that you're slowing killing yourself! The fact that you're offering up info I didn't ask for lets me know that you KNOW you're killing yourself & choosing to do just that! Carry on...🤣🤣🤣🤣💯💯💯 #Idontcare#canIlive#eatwhatyouwant#stopfishingforfreeadvice#yourenotgoingtolistenanyway#cleaneating#trainerproblems#Ididntask#mindingmyownbusiness
So, if I had a dollar 💵 for every time someone asked me if they should eat fruit 🍉 and how much...I would open up my own juice bar 😂 NO JOKE.
First of all, a study back in 2010 done by 500 researchers, known as the Global Burden of Disease Study, showed that the worst aspect of our diet is not eating enough fruit ☝️
Fruit is anti-inflammatory, full of antioxidants, reduces cardiovascular risk and may even be anti-cancerous.
But then what about people with diabetes? Insulin resistance? What about the fructose?
There have been many studies done on this. The conclusion is that the effects of eating fructose from ADDED sugars is toxic to our health....NOT the fructose from fruit! Remember, fruit sugar is all natural sugar--big difference!
Many believe that the threshold of toxicity of fructose would be 50g, which is about 5 servings of fruit 🍌 🍎🍇🥝🍊per day! You could eat 5 pieces of fruit a day and be healthy. NO worries! However, if you’re eating 5 pieces of fruit and still eating granola bars, sweetened granola, desserts etc, than you may need to take a look at how much sugar you’re eating in general. FYI. But overall, it's the INDUSTRIAL fructose that can and is actually the toxic culprit.
P.S. Berries 🍓 can actually decrease the insulin spike of a meal!

Gotta love #elpolloloco as you can see, I eat what I want. There's no secret, you just need to know what and when to eat, supplements to take... And of course know how to workout. My average workouts are 45 mins. If you want to know more, hit me up, I'll be happy to share with you the details. #eatwhatyouwant#lookamazingfeelamazing#lookamazing
3 hours in the kitchen tonight, cooking up a storm from Lose Weight for Good by @cheftomkerridge. Dinner was chilli con carne with pickled onions and tortilla chips and I made chicken salad for tomorrow (using my mother-in-law's fresh produce from her garden) and salmon and feta muffins for breakfast. Bring on another busy week 💪😋 #chilliconcarne#foodprep#packedlunch
It’s not hard for me to be vulnerable anymore... there are still plenty of days where I am finding myself in a place where I need to step back to remember how far I’ve come and that is okay! I’m not done growing. I’m not doing learning. I’m not done changing.
Part of my process to self-acceptance is finding peace in my doubt, in the questions, and crummy days... letting myself go to sleep at night knowing, I’m not perfect, but I will be fine. I’m not just happy during the easy ones, where I feel great.
I do still need reminders. That is my reality and that is something I’m okay with. I’m still along for the ride.
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
I needed some motivation this morning. I had a bit of a rough week and I’m super tired. Walking my dogs at the ponds by my house always has me feeling better, ok I’m still tired, though I’m glad I got out and got some movement in.
What do you do for #mondaymotivation ?
