Hey, what’s up, hello! I’m Mary Jane. I’ve got a story to tell and I’d love for you to tag along! Here’s a little before and after - at my heaviest I weighed in at over 280 lbs (the picture on the left). At age 7 I started gaining weight from emotionally eating and truth be told it never really stopped. Up until this point my life I was heavy and clinically obese. After seeing some illuminating photos after a trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom (stay tuned for those 😬) I knew in order to live a longer and happier life I needed to make some changes. I’m so glad you’re here, I have so much to tell you. 😏

In the past, the moment my skin breaks out I’m ALL OVER THAT SHIT... buying the most expensive face wash, steaming my face twice a day... oh and let’s not forget turning into a sugar fearing vegan.
But not this time ☝🏻
Ya see, I know why my skins breaking out again.
I’m having wayyy too many spoonfuls of sugar in my hot drinks... I’ve started drinking coffee, eating cheese, occasionally sipping the odd Diet Coke and overall not living the healthy ‘clean eating’ meal plan I followed for many years.
And don’t get me wrong, over the past few days when the lumps on my face have been extra painful, I’ve fully considered cutting certain food groups out of my diet, in order to feel in control of my skin’s appearance once again. 
But I know the drill by now.
The moment I start following a strict, all you can eat broccoli diet... anorexia rears it’s ugly mug and pulls me back in.
So this time... I’m gonna eat all that sugar, I spent years denying myself of, embrace my spotty complexion and keep on indulging in my new found coffee romance.
But sure, acne is a pile of wank... but I’d choose a few spots over a life time of strict- eating disorder brain rules any day matey.

Rice, greens, chicken, and eggs/egg whites. Pretty much sums up 90% of my diet. These foods keep me feeling full & energized, and can be prepared in a variety of ways.

Find what works for YOU. I think it's really important to not label the way you eat. I've made that mistake before. Not only do you put yourself in a box and have to explain your diet to people (not sure why everyone cares), but you create that guilty mindset around food you're "not supposed to eat.
I eat what I want. Sometimes I eat chicken, sometimes I eat vegetarian chicken. I eat A LOT of carbs. I keep the cheese to.a minimum because of my stomach. I eat spicy foods often. I'm a veggie freak. I love mixing a dash of dressing into my meals for added flavor and moisture. I also love pizza, chips, and ice cream. Not paleo not vegan not vegetarian not keto not anything. Just food I like going into my gullet 😋

However, if you’re eating 5 pieces of fruit and still eating granola bars, sweetened granola, desserts etc, than you may need to take a look at how much sugar you’re eating in general. FYI. But overall, it's the INDUSTRIAL fructose that can and is actually the toxic culprit.

Dinner was chilli con carne with pickled onions and tortilla chips and I made chicken salad for tomorrow (using my mother-in-law's fresh produce from her garden) and salmon and feta muffins for breakfast. It’s not hard for me to be vulnerable anymore... there are still plenty of days where I am finding myself in a place where I need to step back to remember how far I’ve come and that is okay! I’m not done growing. I’m not doing learning. I’m not done changing.
Part of my process to self-acceptance is finding peace in my doubt, in the questions, and crummy days... letting myself go to sleep at night knowing, I’m not perfect, but I will be fine. I’m not just happy during the easy ones, where I feel great.
I do still need reminders.  That is my reality and that is something I’m okay with. I’m still along for the ride.

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
