A cluttered mind is something we all experience, especially as the holidays near.
Busy schedules, heavy work-loads, stress... It's far too easy to get caught up in our heads.
When we’re not clear-headed, we lose the connection to ourselves, our environment, and our lives. Clearing the clutter from our minds is the best way to stay focused, and regain balance.
These tips can help you do just that.
1. Keep a gratitude log.
Spend five minutes every day to note at least five things you’re grateful for. It’s hard to be grateful and angry at the same time.
Writing down your thoughts, worries, hopes, and experiences, is a definite way to relax the chatter inside your head.
Even though you’re still thinking of these things as you write, it’s like you’re observing the situation from ten feet away, no longer completely absorbed in the emotionality of it.
Laughter truly is the best medicine. It eases defensiveness, lightens your emotional load, and lifts stress off your shoulders. Practice not taking yourself so seriously - laugh loudly, and more often.
Yoga is always a good idea.

Negativity can only bring us down, and affect the world around us... if we let it!
Instead of letting negative thoughts or seemingly negative situations consume you, take a counter approach:
For every negative thought, counter it with 3-4 positive ones. ✨ What’s one good thing about this situation?
✨ What’s one thing I can do differently the next time to likely have a better outcome?
✨ What’s one thing I can learn from this?
✨ How would my best or spouse friend support and help me in this situation?
Remember, you are never alone. When all else fails, let it out and TALK to someone.
Getting outside to connect with nature can help you soak in the sunshine, find deeper inspiration and expand your awareness!
We know what you're thinking - it's cold, snuggling up sounds warm and cozy... But the truth is, winter is the best time to get moving! When we're cold, our circulation decreases, slowing the effectiveness of the organs and lowering our body temperatures, which can lead to constricted muscles & joints.
Getting active outside as well as sticking to your yoga practice can help you develop an internal heat, keeping you healthy and warm!
So how about it - are you brave enough to face the outdoors this winter?

Are you hard on yourself?
One of the biggest and most common demons that we all face is a lack of self-compassion, genuine self-esteem and holding ourselves in high regard. In some of our deeper conversations with students, this topic is common and each person says “I thought I was the only one who felt this way.” If you struggle with anger, know that underneath that anger are other emotions like sorrow that can feel vulnerable to experience.
If you struggle with guilt, know that you did your best. Find a person who had made no mistakes; it is not possible. If you struggle with envy, remember that a victory for one is a victory for all. We are all connected, we are all unique and no one’s light can diminish yours.
More light makes us all shine brighter. If there are places that you need to grow, you are in good company, because we all do! The human journey offers us an opportunity to journey deeper into ourselves.
Life offers us opportunities to learn, but we must be willing to experience, honour and process our vulnerabilities to gain the lessons.
Meditation is one way that you can learn to be with challenging emotions and love yourself through them.

The difference between being wise or foolish lies in how we attempt to do it. First, it requires a pristine cerebral blood flow to trigger a higher cognitive 🧠 performance. To power up an elevated cognition, the potent elements in the phytonutrients & antioxidants of whole plant foods, specifically berries 🍓, nuts 🥜 & beans, (pic here, blueberry smoothie & walnut-hummus toast) are needed to unleash the full force of your critical thinking & decision-making. Secondly, to make these decisions well, it’s important to find a positive relationship with uncertainty 🤷♀️. To do so, it’s vital to understand that good & bad things don’t affect us nearly as much as we fear or hope; finding ways to be happy 😊 in the present before they do is what it means to be wise. No one ever made wise decisions brooding over their past or future. Wisdom is knowing that you don’t have to hold your happiness hostage till some future time where your desires get gratified. Whatever your goals, the quality of the journey 🛶has to become more important than those fleeting moments when you actually arrive at your destination bc most of your life is the journey. In each moment we have the opportunity to connect with consciousness & its contents, the sights, sensations, sounds & ideas that constitute the actual character of our lives. If we are lost in thought 🤷♂️then we’re fully at the mercy of whatever thoughts arise. Here the mind becomes a theater 🎥 of doubt, anxiety & regret. Mindfulness is the capacity to break this spell🧞♀️& to actually connect w/ experience in the present moment, but it doesn’t come naturally, nor does a smooth cerebral blood flow, which is why we must practice to make it so.#veganfood#brainfood#vegansmoothie#eatnuts#eatberries#eatbeansnotbeings#eatveganfood#wholeplantfoods#consciousnessiseverything#mindfulnessmeditation
Can you believe that in exactly one month it will be Christmas Eve?
Have you found that this year has flown by too? If so, this is a good reason to take advantage of the time we have left in 2018!
Here are a few of our recommendations:
Get outside. Go for a hike or a nature walk (incredible bundled up of course!). Do something that your future self will thank you for.
You will feel better, once you do!
What's on your list for the rest of 2018?!
Pretty decent Sabado.on the books today. Went for a swim with the kiddos, did a TJ's run, made sugar cookies and made this big ol bowl of veggie goodness...
👉bed of kale and cabbage slaw massaged with a little tamari and @the_ginger_people ginger and chile sauce, jasmine rice topped with @wildbrine kimchi sriracha, roasted broccoli and brussells, @traderjoes crispy not chicken, baby bellas, baby bell peppers, haricot vert, and snowpeas.
I really needed some vegetables. My tum tum is unhappy about all the buttery dessert crusts🤘
