How would you like to NOT think about losing 3-5lbs before Christmas? 
But, I get it.  You are stuck on the weight loss and diet centric rollercoaster.  And all you can think of to feel better is to lose weight.  What I have learned over the 11 years of being stuck on my own rollercoaster is that there is a high cost to all of it. 
Weighing, measuring, counting, tracking everything.

Obsessing, stressing, binging in secret.

Shame, self-judgement, depression.

Basing your worth on a number.

Feeling alone, even though you are surrounded by friends.

Imbalanced hormones, gut issues, health issues, lack of energy, sleeplessness.

The solution does is not lie in another diet, cleanse, Keto, magic coffee, or supplements.  The solution, the way to get off the rollercoaster, the first step is to heal your relationship with food.  In doing so, you will begin to heal your body and mindset.  Your thought process will shift from weight loss to health, to eating what you enjoy without diet rules or restrictions.  Moving because you enjoy it.  Most importantly loving who you are at this moment, while continuing forward to creating a life of joy, fun, and freedom from diet culture.

I was going to wait until the New Year, but after chatting with a friend and fellow coach, there is no time like the present 🎁 (especially for overcoming my own fear of imposter syndrome). I had a piece of toast before the dentist and then 2.5 donuts. Possibly 3, I can’t remember. And that’s ok. Whatever. What sucks is they weren’t even that good. What a waste. Metaphorically speaking, the donut can symbolize a lot of different things. Perhaps it’s taking that trip, giving yourself a day off, working with that coach, doing that thing you’ve been wanting to do, trying that new thing you’ve been wanting to try, singing loud for all to hear, buying that car or that house, asking that person to go out with you. Whatever it is, life is too short, so why not allow yourself to do the damn thang?!

Your desires are so valid. Your desires are clues! You deserve to go after your dream job. You deserve to do things confidently. You deserve to believe in yourself. You deserve to have the best everything.

What I’ve learned???? 🍩A donut or dessert you enjoy today is not going to ruin your entire progress! Don’t self sabotage! What will ruin your progress is punishing yourself for eating it and allowing your entire day to fall by the wayside. Enjoy the treat and move on. 🥞A carb rich meal or treat may actually benefit you if you have had a tough week of training and have been eating in a calorie deficit to help replenish glycogen stores! ———————————————————
Restricting yourself often leads to binging which leads to an unhealthy relationship with food. Be mindful of your choices and work them into a balanced day of micro and macronutrient rich food. Then you can enjoy that donut, guilt free! 💗

Donut for breakfast, bread at lunch, a filling dinner and a BLUE FRICKEN DOT. Tuesday turned out pretty okay 😁 I could’ve thrown my whole day away after that donut, but WHY, when I could just start over with my next choice? That’s all it takes to turn things around!

There is probably a good 15lb difference between these two pictures and looking back I do miss those lean days. To the stress eater & cyclic dieter that I used to be, the struggle was SOOO REAL 🙄😅 I would either have one, feel guilty, and punish myself by going to spend another hour in the gym or skip dinner or I would tell myself I couldn’t have one, only to go home and binge on a bunch of “healthy” snacks that amounted to way more than a stupid donut🤦🏼‍♀️ This year is different.. today I ate the donut& went on with my life... We don’t eat donuts everyday.  We don’t go to Wendy’s everyday.  Most of what we eat I prepare at home, I love to cook! A wide variety of proteins, complex carbs, fruits, and the veggies know they enjoy.  I want them to have to a wide variety of experiences with food.  I want to instill in them their own ability to honor their hunger.  I want them to feel free to eat the foods they enjoy and make them feel good, without following rules. .
My own journey into Intuitive Eating has taught me so much and now I can show my kids there is a way to eat and live a healthy fulfilling life without food restriction and food rules.

Can you imagine eating bacon at all three meals during the day and NOT having any diet guilt??? I remember reading through meal plans designed to go along with at-home workout programs and really not liking the fact that turkey bacon was okay, but regular bacon was not.

I tried as best I could to buy into the turkey (not) bacon, but I just couldn’t do it to myself or my family.  So, we stopped having bacon at home.  A food my kids and husband love.  And since I do most of the grocery shopping my family was restricted because of diet rules and they weren’t on a diet or meal plan.  How fair is that? 
One day I just decided I wasn’t going to take it anymore and I bought bacon 2 packs of bacon. Such a diet rebel right???? And I ate 8 pieces!  Four while I was cooking it, I felt SO GUILTY. But I would’ve kept eating it if there was more.  I was in full on bacon binge mode because I told myself that this was the last time I would be able to eat bacon because if I wanted to reach my weight loss goal I really had to follow the “allowed” meal plan.

What a bunch of 💩 😠 I don’t know about you but I was so tired of being told what I could and couldn’t eat because for some reason food had a morality level.  And yet I kept going back to the rules, then binged on a “bad” food (usually 🍩), felt guilty and would start the cycle all over again.

I finally reached a point that I refused to give up the foods I enjoy, that make me feel good, that make me feel happy just because somewhere out there in the diet mentality obsessed world they are considered bad.  Once I allowed myself to eat what I wanted to eat, the binge eating stopped.  I can go weeks without eating a donut, instead of having one (or 3) everyday and hiding it.  Why? Because I know that whenever I really want one, I can have one whenever I want.

Today, I wanted bacon.  And I am totally satisfied. 😌

Oh! And the French toast for dinner (dessert) was pretty delicious too.  Topped mine with leftover cranberry sauce, apple pie filling, and homemade whipped cream.

There’s a few misconceptions out there about flexible dieters. People think all they eat is crap. Well, that couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s simple a method that allows for more balance and less restriction with our diet so in the long term, it’s more sustainable. The one major reason I follow it and my clients follow it, is because it’s measurable! Sure, we can lose weight by changing our eating habits and just eating more nutritious foods...but that will only take you so far and many people will find that very mentally tough and they get into eat clean- junk food binge cycles. This is not only unhealthy but it’s extremely frustrating.

This is a pretty typical eating day for me. I don’t always have a donut but I usually have a little treat daily. Sometimes a cookie, sometimes chocolate frozen yogurt, sometimes a chocolate covered granola bar 🤷‍♀️ The beauty is...I CAN have any of those things. 🙌🏽

My current macros: (just started a slow cut..about 0.3-0.8 lbs/week)
Low days  x4:
175Carb-140Protein-65Fat
(Photo shows low day macros and 28g of fiber for the day. I also drink 3-4L of water every day- this is KEY)

High days x3:
275C-140-65F

My daily fiber goal is 25-30g- this makes it impossible to eat a bunch of crap food 😉

I have practiced flexible dieting for long enough that I have earned the knowledge and habits to not have to track my food while in “maintenance”. I can eat more intuitively and know approximately how much of everything I am consuming. You have to put in the work FIRST to be able to get to this point. This is a skill, but I promise you, once you learn it, you’ll never DIET again. •

When my closest friends surprised me yesterday I was the happiest human being on this planet. They took me to the @supercandymuseum in Cologne and helped me finding peace, rest for my wild thoughts and joy by reminding me of my inner child. I jumped, climbed, ran and laughed so hard that my stomach almost exploded. It was something like a goodbye surprise, a last day together before my great adventure starts. We were the little girls we were so many years before, talking about our dreams and how our future may look like. Happy times come and go, but this memory will stay forever. .

Good Monday morning and a great day to start moving no matter what you are doing. Here’s my morning heart pounder along with a shoulder/ arm  workout for strength so I keep my weight moderate to heavy and only do 3 sets or 6-8 and I do 4 shoulder movements with 3 arm movements. I will also incorporate 4 sets of 3 plank movements for strength in my torso region. Keep it at 1 min a set. I’ve had plenty of people say that they can’t live a healthy life because they need balance. They need their beer or wine, their chips and dip, their bread. They don’t have time to exercise, meal prep or eat well. I get asked how I have so much energy to do all the things I do (and love).
. . .
Here’s the secret......I live in a mindset of ABUNDANCE. I meal prep and eat healthy most of the time because it is the fuel for my body. Only high octane for me, I got lots to do! I move my body through exercise or climbing nearly everyday because it keeps me strong and believe it or not, it’s what gives me more energy! My sleep is recharging and restorative.

Do I rest? Of course!
Do I eat carbs? Ummm...those donuts are for dessert tonight!
Do I drink? I love my red wine!

My belief is that abundance CREATES balance. I harbor zero guilt when I indulge and I view my treats as just that. A treat! A donut or a burger, a glass of wine, a good nap, a lazy day on the couch or in the bath to recharge. We all need them from time to time., just not all the time.

Scarcity vs Abundance . . . How does a picture of gourmet donuts prompt this? . . . I’ve had plenty of people say that they can’t live a healthy life because they need balance. They need their beer or wine, their chips and dip, their bread. They don’t have time to exercise, meal prep or eat well. I get asked how I have so much energy to do all the things I do (and love). . . . Here’s the secret......I live in a mindset of ABUNDANCE. I meal prep and eat healthy most of the time because it is the fuel for my body. Only high octane for me, I got lots to do! I move my body through exercise or climbing nearly everyday because it keeps me strong and believe it or not, it’s what gives me more energy! My sleep is recharging and restorative. . . . Do I rest? Of course! Do I eat carbs? Ummm...those donuts are for dessert tonight! Do I drink? I love my red wine! . . . My belief is that abundance CREATES balance. I harbor zero guilt when I indulge and I view my treats as just that. A treat! A donut or a burger, a glass of wine, a good nap, a lazy day on the couch or in the bath to recharge. We all need them from time to time., just not all the time. . . . Since committing to myself almost 18 months ago, I have the most energy I have ever had in my life! i have a love/hate relationship with timehop. it brings up all sorts of memories: good, bad, embarrassing (hey 7th grade 😬), happy, sad. sometimes even good memories that are now sad because something went wrong there.

i’ve thought about deleting the app multiple times but ultimately have decided that i’d rather feel all the feels than nothing at all. everyday i see things from years ago that bring me right back to a specific moment and i think that’s pretty cool. and as far as the memories that make me feel sad/angry/nostalgic/etc., i try to put a good spin on them. i try to think about what lesson i learned, how it made me stronger, how i’m different today because of it. .

acknowledging & feeling these things (instead of suppressing them) helps me to accept that i can’t stay stuck in what used to be because that mindset will do nothing for me! whether it be good or bad... it’s over and that is that. it reminds me to stay present and focus on creating the best life i can, right now.
