Playing a little catchup today! This is the 5th week of the year long challenge of eating only seasonal produce. •
This week was pretty busy and I threw together lots of easy meals and lots of leftovers! But who cares, right? We have great, delicious and healthy meals and that is what matters!
Do you have a leftover night? How often do you do that?
What’s the best thing about a Perth winter? Blue sky’s in the middle of July!! The second best, is this teriyaki glazed market fish with bok Choi and buckwheat noodle salad, on the website for next weeks dinner! DEFISHIOUS
Mixed greens, spring peas, asparagus, avocado, strawberries, walnuts, quinoa and @parmelacreamery aged shredded mozzarella tossed in my housemade lemon mustard dressing. I picked organic veggies and fruits grown in #wa bc I Iove local food, though, eat what you have access to, frozen or fresh, organic or not. #foodgram#summerveggies#summerfruits#summereats
#tbt to that delicious weekend breakfast which we are going to be making for dinner on a Thursday night. Indian style scrambled eggs (Andha Akoori) prepared with spices and scooped up with a side of roti! Soft and moist with a refreshing garnish to add an element of crunch and freshness! Our recipe is in the bio if want to try it out! If you can’t be bothered making roti, just use the ready-made wraps! It is the kind of dinner you might like to prepare when you’ve come home late from work, but still want the comfort of home-cooked food! Hope your week is going good so far! #scrambledeggs#roti#breakfastfordinner#homemade#throwbackthursday#yourpantrydeservesthebest
“It’s either all or nothing” - NO. NOOOOO. ❤️
STOP & Drop the all or nothing mentality 🛑 . A healthy body and mind needs REALISTIC behaviors. (Read, repeat). 🤙
Some days we squat, eat greens & eggs, rock the perfect hair and feel line a million bucks. Others, we rock dry shampoo, have low energy, Netflix n chill, and eat Ben n Jerry's ice cream. Yes. You heard me. 🤤🙌🙋♀️💕
If you live by the all or nothing rule then anything less than perfect is viewed as failure and this sends you into an unhealthy place. You feel stuck. You feel not good enough. You feel as though you are literally failing at life if you don’t achieve it all. Because when one says, “all or nothing”, - it’s always about achieving it all. Never nothing. .
If you think you operate with this mindset, be aware of moments it creeps in and quickly reverse your thoughts/actions. You don’t need to change everything overnight (unrealistic, too) and getting healthier and happier won’t happen by operating a strict “all” mindset. So if you have thoughts such as:
➡️ I’ll skip breakfast and lunch so I can binge on “bad” food tonight. ➡️ I’ll punish myself with cardio so I can “undo the damage.” OR do hours and hours of exercise to 'burn' off 'enough' calories to eat.
➡️ Tell yourself you’ve “ruined” it by having 1 treat and have an all out binge fest (which could lead to purging).
➡️ Eat “good” food to balance out a little “bad” food.
➡️ Don't allow yourself ANY 'bad' foods unless you are able to "get rid" of it afterwards.
➡️ You experience guilt/shame after “bad food” and restrict yourself for days after (before it all happens again).
➡️ You lie in bed criticizing what you’ve eaten all day. OR lie in bed with horrible hunger pains from not eating all day.
I TELL YOU THESE THOUGHTS BECAUSE I KNOW! I’ve experienced it too. I thought that was how to do this “fitness” & “health” thing. It’s most certainly not. Adjust your language, adjust your mindset, have your treats, have your balanced meals. Stop over complicating the process and aiming for perfection because perfection isn’t a happy place to be. .
Work. Play. LIVE your life to the fullest w/ NO restrictions 👊
🍇🍏A meta-analysis published in the British Medical Journal found that people who ate the most fruit were less likely to develop type 2 diabetes than people who tried to “limit” their daily fruit intake. At Mastering Diabetes, we think eating plenty of fruit is a good idea — especially if you have diabetes! And science is actually on our side! 👩🏫 🍉What’s your favorite fruit right now?🍑Let us know in the comments below! 📸Photo via @bos.kitchen
Same day, second attempt: Carbonara
Cooking time: 15-20mins.
Simple yet complicated.
I don’t think I’d cook this in large batch. It’s simple yet complicated. Pan temperature have to be just right, not sizzling or else you’d get a stir fry. Cooking is time sensitive, can’t have the egg and cheese sitting in the counter for quite some time.
Messed up my first attempt, it turned out like a stir fry noodles. This is my second attempt. Could use more cheese. Oh well... #homecooked#foodporn#foodie#atlantafoodie#atlanta#eatfresh#atleats
If you are looking for a healthy snack plain popcorn is a healthy whole grain food that is low in calories (about 30 calories per cup) and high in fibre (about 1g per cup), especially when compared to snacks like crisps. ...
I bought some blackberry bushes when I worked at Lowe’s. They were marked down to fifty cents a piece, and they were ugly. They were worn down and had most definitely seen better days. I brought them home and to my parents I gifted nearly dead, barren baby blackberry plants. Plants that needed a second chance, plants that needed help along the way and plants that my mother nurtured back to health. Plants growing in my back yard that continue to remind me when Summer is truly here. Plants that thrive annually regardless of how the previous year went. Plants which provide for us when the circumstances are right. I guess I have more in common with the little clearance berry bushes than I realized. #kentucky#iphonephotography#eatlocal#eatfresh#summer
