Farmers market Saturday’s 🙌 are my absolute fav way to spend a Saturday! I am so lucky to live so close to a wonderful market. The only anxiety i get is whether to go for more summer or more fall foods. I can never decide! Apples or peaches? It’s a wonderful problem to have. 
Despite all the school work the day is already looking up! It’s probably the first sunny day in a week and I am going around the art fair near where i live and drinking all the coffee and eating all the cider donuts. I’m not huge into pumpkin but man, put apple cider on anything and I’ll drink it up! And heading to Trader Joe’s of course! Would y’all like me to take you along??

Saturday baking anyone? If you need a nut-free alternative to peanut butter cookies, these three ingredient tahini cookies are super easy and free of refined sugar! I’m sure you’ve seen the popular recipe all over Pinterest for grain-free peanut butter cookies that only require 3 simple ingredients. I decided to try an allergy-friendly, nut-free version with tahini, and they turned out great! (Note: a couple of my kids are not fans of tahini, and eating it in cookie form did not convince them otherwise. In other words, if you don’t like tahini, you probably won’t like these.)

I would imagine these cookies would work well with sunbutter too for another allergy friendly version, or other nut butters if you just want a peanut free version. I think I’ll try cashew butter next! Recipe for these is on the blog!

Despite the crazy situations life has put me in recently, I stand by my motto "No excuses." Every day it is my goal to work out hard, fuel my body with the right kinds of food, and inspire others to do so as well. NOTHING will get in my way. Yesterday was an especially rough day. This hiking trip was amazing... until I finished the trail. While waiting in the parking lot, a group of men chased me, threatening sexual assault. I managed to flag down a car, get inside, and get to safety. I'm safe, I'm happy now, and I'm ready to get back to my goals.💪 WORD OF ADVICE: please, PLEASE never hike alone. Always bring a friend. Stay safe.❤

🥞Ever struggled with knowing when to stop eating? Most of us only know TWO extremes of eating: STARVING or STUFFED. Very rarely do we actually slow down to mindfully eat our food, be aware of our hunger levels, our body and its cues.

📊Have you seen the hunger scale before? If not, here it is! It’s a great way to think about your physical sensation and mood  as it pertains to hunger. Being more aware of hunger can help you:

🔺manage portion sizes
🔺control emotional eating
🔺understand when to stop eating
🔺recognize your personal hunger cues
⠀
🧠In order to lose weight, being mindful and eating slowly is needed to tune in and recognize the signs of fullness.
⠀
🍴You should practice trying to eliminate hunger, NOT chase fullness. I made the mistake of chasing fullness for the first part of my dieting life and when I made the switch, I noticed a big change in my body. In other words, on the chart, the goal should be numbers 5-6. Ideally, you should feel as though you could workout an hour later without discomfort.

❌Zones 1-3: Try to stay out of these zones to avoid binging, overeating, or becoming ravenous or lightheaded.
✅Zones 4-7: The sweet spot of fullness. Zone 5-6 is where you want to be after a meal. Like you could eat more but feel good 🤗
❌Zones 8-10: Try to avoid this zone! This is what you may typically feel like after Thanksgiving 🍗

It’s figging Friday everyone🙌! Woohoo! I’m so happy to have survived another week around these parts hehe. 🤩 i did a killer boxing workout and picked up some cold brew to savor. The only bad thing about my Friday was vacuuming up some broken glass from a jar of aquafaba (aka chickpea liquid)  I was saving in my kitchen. 😂 I am just the biggest klutz. What can I say?

Hallöchen meine Lieben!
Ihr habt bestimmt schon gemerkt, dass hier gerade etwas Stille herrscht, das liegt daran, dass ich wie schon gesagt eine fette Mandelentzündung habe😢🤧 und derzeit nichts festes essen kann. Die Kraft fehlt mir irgendwie auch total dazu, aber a Süpple geht immer – ebbes schwäbsch’s haha 😛
Die Suppe hat mir die Oma einer damaligen Freundin oft gekocht. Und ich muss sagen, diese hat den Geschmack sehr nah getroffen. 
ZUTATEN👩‍🍳 150 ml Milch
40g Butter
¼ TL Salz
1 Priese Muskat

60g Grieß
1 Ei🥚🍳
½ Petersilie
¾ Liter Hühnerbrühe🐔

Sooo, die Milch, Muskat, Salz und Butter mischen und kurz aufkochen lassen. Das Grieß und die Petersilie unterrühren. Dann die Masse abkühlen lassen.
Nach dem Erkalten das Ei untermischen gut verrühren und aus der Masse Knödel formen. Das funktioniert ganz gut, wenn man diese mit zwei Teelöffel formt.🥄🥄
Die Knödel in der Suppenbrühe kochen bis sie an der Oberfläche schwimmen.

Fertig isch die Supp‘! n Guata dätet die Schwoba etz saga🍲

It took a while, but when I got to the root of it, she had made a bad grade on 1 paper...... y’all 💥 1 💥 paper!!! .
It made me think, how often do we quit when we have a few set backs? .
When something doesn’t go our way? .
How often do we convince ourselves we can’t because __________. But we really CAN. .

No idea if that's true 🤷🏼‍♀️ What I do know is that the more you try and the more you do, the more you become capable of.

Whether it's trying a new move in the gym or travelling to a new place (🙋🏼‍♀️😍), doing things you haven't tried before is a surefire way to grow.

I LOVE speaking to new people, exploring different places, trying cuisines I've never tried before, learning to cook new meals, trying a new sport...I'll probably do anything once 😂

Trying new things can be uncomfortable, hence why most of us end up stuck in a rut.

If you're bored or lacking inspiration, do something different. Especially if it scares you.

Before you know it, the new thing becomes the norm and that's how you expand your comfort zone 👌🏼

It’s so quick and easy to make these fluffy spelt pancakes you will never make pancakes out of the box again! 
Have you heard of spelt flour? It's a flour made from an ancient grain that is easier to digest than regular white or whole wheat flour. Spelt flour contains more protein and vitamin B2 than whole wheat flour and gives the stacked pancakes a yummy nutty flavour. I like to stack’em and play around with the layers, that way everyone can enjoy their own unique spelt pancake stack creation!

▪️1 cup of water
▪️1/3 cup coconut oil melted
▪️Sprinkle of nutmeg powder

After being on the road for a few days it’s time for some home cooking! It’s sooo easy to throw together this Jamaican jerk chicken. Just dry rub tons of jerk spice on the boneless chicken legs and bake skin side down. It’s a great idea to have something other than breast meat once in a while. After being on the road for a few days it’s time for some home cooking! It’s sooo easy to throw together this Jamaican jerk chicken. Just dry rub tons of jerk spice on the boneless chicken legs and bake skin side down. It’s a great idea to have something other than breast meat once in a while. I've been wanting to try making my own acai bowl - as I always find myself ordering them out! I never did because  I assumed they were difficult. How wrong was I!

This is my 3rd attempt and I feel I've got it down pat now👌 I bought the @creativegourmetofficial organic acai and  used the recipe on the back of the packet

DIY ACAI BOWL
1 acai pouch 
1/2 cup pineapple, chopped frozen
1/2 banana, chopped frozen 
1/2 cup mango, chopped frozen 
1/2 cup Organic coconut milk

Blend together. Top with
Fresh fruit, seeds, toasted nuts, rolled oats and dried berries 👌💚

Ok. I did it. I went there. Pumpkin Spice before the official start of Fall. But I couldn’t help myself. It just sort of happened.

I’m not really sure of this qualifies as a great food photo, but it kind of draws you in in a weird way... plus it was just WAY too good not to share.
As usual, #minimalistbaker knocks it out of the park again with her black bean and plantain enchiladas. I need to be careful. I could easily become a @minimalistbaker groupie and that could get weird...
Anyhoo. It was amazing. Oh and it’s pictured here on top of some Sprouts because, I don’t know, I thought it would taste good. And it did!
I also may or may not have plopped some way non vegan sour cream on top of this and eaten it that way too🤤🤷🏻‍♀️

10 minute healthy capresse pasta 🇮🇹 Hands up if you like pasta 🍝 🤚hands up if you’re so lazy you don’t want to spend a life in the kitchen 🤚 .

▶️ boil a healthy pasta of choice (I used legume pasta)
▶️once boiled,in the same pan throw in some 🍅 basil and garlic, add salt and pepper to taste and sauté the veggies with the pasta and a tablespoon of olive oil
▶️ add some grated cheese of choice or nutritional yeast for vegans 😉 ▶️ add a dash of milk of choice together with a tblsp of Philadelphia cheese or cashew butter if you’re vegan 
Serve and enjoy 💕 this is personally one of my favorite meals and it literally takes less than 10 minutes to put it all together 😉 .
Si don’t come at me with the whole ‘I don’t have time to be healthy’ excuse, cuz don’t worry I gotcha 😉 .
