The spice is made mostly of wild dill grown all over the coastlines, beach mustard and other forages beach greens we dried. The end product reminds me a lot of Japanese curry with a kick. A nice surprise of nostalgia.
Quick snack stop @vikschaat in Berkeley before catching my flight back to Portland. This is Dahi Papdi Chaat with little crackers called papdis, potatoes and garbanzo beans smothered in yogurt and various chutneys. Vik’s is an institution. This family-run business has been serving regional Indian chaats (street foods) for over 20 years. It’s worth a visit. Don’t forget to get a mango or rose lassi! Friday night burger night. 🍔Husband grilled up some @butcher_box grassfeed beef patties and topped them off with organic pepper jack, onion, pickle, lettuce + special sauce on the most delicious bun. Paired with a @tobinjamescellars zin, I am a happy camper.

While the pizzas that come out of this oven are no doubt their own little masterpieces, the pizza oven itself is an even greater work of art! Our oven was hand-made by Stefano Ferrara, a craftsman based in Naples whose family has been designing and building traditional Neapolitan pizza ovens for many generations. All of their ovens are built brick by brick without any prefabricated concrete slabs, following old Neapolitan tradition. All of the care and time put into creating these ovens make them unique and beautiful!
