To be honest, I have no idea what the name of this creek is, nor the waterfall that Rhen and I found upstream. All I know is that it’s north of Helen, Georgia.
That was a year ago.
The way things change in such a short amount of time has been on my mind a lot the last few days. As I prepare to make the journey back to the mountains - getting back in shape and trying my hardest to put back the weight I’ve lost - I know I’ve changed mentally as well.
I appreciate things more, value friendships that have stuck around and am grateful for the new ones. I’m excited for the future and the opportunities I’ve been given.
Thank you all for following along and supporting this journey.
Movement. I’ve been studying lots of street photography and one of my favorite things to capture is motion and movement. I just got a fuji with a 23mm lens (35 equivalent) so my street shots have been tighter lately. Also just got 7 rolls developed 👌🏼
“a bar, a party, an institution”
i remember the happiness i felt on this day so well. i was in a brand new place starting a new adventure, and it was like i had the whole world in front of me. it was the first time i didn’t feel nervous about moving down the east coast to live on my own. i think the frozen drink in my hand probably had something to do with that, though.

Hawksbill Mountain 6-16-18//
The hike up to the summit was steep and rocky but relatively short. Rhododendrons lined the trail most of the way up; their thick canopy spread dark, cool shadows on the forest floor. The added cacophony of birds chirping all around really gave the illusion of being in a rain forest. Upon summiting, the vegetation quickly changed to mountain laurel and white pine. Their short stature lend themselves well to allow adventure-seekers to peer over and take in the wide expanses of the Linville Gorge. Other folks soon found their way up the peak and we hung out until the sun started to set. Thanks @hungqta for recommending this hike. 10/10 would hike again. - RJL
adventure is out there🌞

Feel the rays of the sun hit your skin as it sets. Breathe in, breathe out. Slow down, have a drink of water. Feel that water flow in your veins. No words, no movement, just feel your spirit connect with the land.
