I see a mess of articles about “essential summer gear,” and besides being mostly about stuff you buy, none has included my #1 piece of gear. I’d run in sweat pants and dress shoes as long as I have a spider-web stick. @hoteyephoto was the first person I saw do it and I’ve used it since #southeasthardwoodforest#eastcoastaf#scsummer
Proud of @twentysixpointj for doing the hard thing!! #Repost @twentysixpointj with @get_repost
Dreamt I was late for the race. Was actually late for the race. 🤷🏼♀️ Despite being tardy to the party, I had a fantastic day with perfect weather. 🌿✨ Finished one minute under the cutoff. DFL. Thanks for the lawn gnome Perry! #H9trailclub#oisellevolée#voleesc#lasthorserunners#eastcoastaf
Today I managed to out-chick the entire field of the H9 Marathon through the North Georgia Mountains. 1st Female/1st Overall 🦄 and I won my first gnome! 🙌🧙♀️ Thank you so much to the wonderful volunteers that supported my fantastic day! #h9
Had the privilege to film a great ultramarathon in WI this weekend, the High Cliff Ultra, put on by @nuruncompany. If you live up that way, check it out next year! If not, I’ll have a video out soon. ✌️🎥
Still riding the high from Saturday’s Lekotek Run 4 Kids 4 mile race! I had the incredible opportunity to race with some awesome athletes. Everyone should get to experience the freedom and joy that running can bring. I often take for granted the ability to just lace up my shoelaces and head out the door, so it was an honor to be the catalyst for these cool cats to be included in this sport that I hold near and dear to my heart... get out and go “beyond the run” to make a positive impact on someone’s life. 💙💙💙 #abilitynotdisability#inclusionrevolution
The excessive rain has brought out some interesting fungi. I'm going to call these guys Forest Portobellos. As I left the woods, I saw a squirrel holding one by the stem and nibbling the edge. I think he's going to have a magical day, lol.
New York’s Catskill Mountains have become my favorite place to run. They’re home to the most challenging terrain I’ve ever run and they bring together an incredible group of runners. Before I ever stepped foot on those trails I got a glimpse of what those mountains and races were all about through the photography of @joeazze so it’s pretty cool to now see myself in a photo or two of his. Joe, @elizabethazze and @mountainpeakfitness are as much a part of those mountains to me as all those rocks and roots. See you guys soon! #Skratchlabs#SkratchTheSummit
The past few weeks have been rough, but I’m happy to be my normal self after getting diagnosed with #lymesdisease 3 weeks ago. Plan to get back to training soon and have more fun times on the trails like this past weekend at Sherando Lake!
I got to meet up with the #scumrunners to eat some mountains for breakfast (so I can eat #allthetacos for dinner). This was more a hike/scramble than a run but these woods are one of my favorite places to play! Hope you all are having an awesome weekend! 😎
Took a break from packing to get in some vert 🙌 going to miss living down the road from my favorite place for mid-week mountain repeats/weekend breaks from studying... bittersweet 😥. One more week at my summer internship, then it’s on to new adventures ✨🤠
#tbt UTMB is just over a month away & while I’m super-stoked for everyone focusing on their final training blocks it’s also bittersweet.
I’m closing in on 3 months of recovery with my next big appointment 18 days away. People are expressing excitement for me that it’s so close but I can’t get over the doubt and fear (among so many other feelings I’ve been bottling up). The more I try to hide these feelings the stronger they grow. Truth is, most days I feel worse mentally than I did in May. Thank you to those of you who have been asking and listening as I’ve been trying to avoid a meltdown these past 2 weeks. I don’t ever like to show my weakness - everything is fine and I’m in control. But those who know...know. And the facade is starting to crack.
I feel like my best training buddy @gunksrunner recorded his latest Pain Cave podcast just for me (you can admit it Jay). It certainly came at a time when I really needed it. SO relatable. I know, not being able to run really isn’t such a big deal. Trying to convince your heart and brain is a different story. And hiding the feelings you experience is destructive. Lots of tears listening to this one. I highly recommend you check out this awesome interview with Heidi Armstrong.
This trail princess can slay dragons all on her own 💪🤘 (ok my Prince Charming @jtcrop was there too 😉)... tough day out on the notoriously difficult Duncan Ridge Trail aka the Dragon’s Spine, but with the best company 🤗❤️ GDR, I’m coming for you next year 😈
