This weekend I took part in the @theearthlingsexperience with Brighton Vegan Activists, where we stood on the beach and showed video footage of what happens in UK slaughterhouses - Red Tractor-certified, RSPCA-approved ones, that are supposed to be humane and high-welfare 🐖🐄🐥 This footage helped many people realise that the meat, dairy and eggs they consume thinking that they come from "happy animals" are in truth products of horrific cruelty and part of a system that keeps animals enslaved for the entire duration of their short and miserable lives, rips babies away from their mothers, and murders billions of sentient beings every year (often, slaughter is not half as "humane" as many people like to think it is - a friend of my husband's whose job it once was to stun cows pre-slaughter in Italy confirms that stun guns can be ineffective and cows are still conscious as they are dismembered) 💔
I feel proud and honoured to have been part of this protest, and I will try to take part in as many more local actions as I can. Every voice counts, so never be silent and speak out against cruelty in every way you can. Thanks @brightonveganactivists for having me!
My very good friend Franziska, who teaches buddhism philosophy at university of virginia , invited me to give talk on " Buddhism & Vegeterianism" on Zoom meeting with her students few months ago. ♡
She introduced me to her students as one of the person who inspired her to go vegan. I frankly had no idea about it🙈but it is a win-win case for buddhism in general to know it is in good hands 😊. ♡ She used to volunteer with @dharamshalaveganmovement. I remember during " Earthlings" screening ,she got so overwhelmed & her soul reflected back on her face. I responded by throwing my arms open to her and we wept togather like little girls. ♡
Buddhism is not a religion but a philosophy that is backed with daily practices of aiming to allievate sufferings of others in the form of liberation by working on ourselves first.
// bury the hatchet / into my back / carve out that which is human / spent a lifetime / burdened by the rib / remove it / and / let the lungs fully expand / giving myself breathing room / gives way to fragmentation / skin peels / reveals slick fur / marigold and butterscotch / fangs drop / from rose thorn gums / belladonna bone marrow / becoming is painful / but / it is worth the expansion //

Creamy matcha filling and crispy granola crust are the best match!
1/3 cup (45g) rolled oats
3 Tbsp. (35g) rice flour
1/4 cup (40g) raw almond
4 Tbsp. coconut sugar
1/8 tsp pink salt
4 Tbsp. melted coconut oil
1 Tbsp. maple syrup.
3/4 cup (100g) raw cashews (soaked 4-5 hours and rinsed)
1/2 cup (120ml) coconut cream
3 Tbsp. melted cacao butter
4 Tbsp. agave or maple syrup
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
2 tsp matcha powder
1/2 tsp vanilla paste
Pinch of pink salt
1) Preheat oven to 180⁰C(350F). Place every dry ingredient for the crust in a food processor. Process well until it reaches the consistency of flour.
2) Add every wet ingredient for the crust into the food processor and process until it becomes like wet sand. If the mixture is too dry, add 1 tsp, or more if necessary, of melted coconut oil.
3) Press the mixture against the sides and the bottom of the mould. Bake it for about 20 min or until golden brown. Let it cool. 4) While cooling the crust, put every ingredient for the matcha filling in a high-speed blender and blend well. Add more sweetener or lemon juice if you need. Layer it over the crust, and freeze it over night. (5) Take out the cake from the mould and garnish with your choice of fruits. **push the crust down with a spoon after baking while the crust is still warm, if it rises too much.
Good morning Monday 💚 just completed my quota of running for the day and stopped to take in the beauty of the working garden; this year we have 2 types of zucchini, a strange "sweet potato" tasting squash, radishes, beans, lettuces, tomatoes and as soon as the weather goes a little cooler candy beetroots. I am so thankful for live teaching me the lesson: patience and hard work will give you a harvest. 🙏🙏
