"I love the city, Kotov. I always have loved the city. I love the city because the city reminds me of you. I remember that first run where I met you. Do you remember? We got fixed up to infiltrate NitroBite and I caught a slug in the leg. You had to carry me out while Tyr covered our asses. Of course you remember, I just... The jobs have caught up to me, Kotov. The Corp is climbing their way up my complex as I speak. They found me out. I never got to tell you, but something tells me you already knew. I just hope... I hope that you loved me too. We had some good runs, made some good cred... and some good friends. You were always the reason I kept going back. I didn't care about risking it against other hired guns or security or DUs or the whole world so long as you had my back and I had yours. Take care of yourself Kotov. I really do love you. I wish we could have found some way to-"
Shoutout to @syphic_sgv of #Syphic (Stoned Youth Politically Hated in California) for the first submission. Thanks, homie! This flyer features a lot of SGV bands, some legends, and a few other heavy hitters. The show ended up getting pushed back a day and moved to The World/Ruby on Hollywood Blvd., where the clubs Perversion, Clockwork Orange, Beat It, and Bang! used to go down. Now it’s a Buffalo Wild Wings.
I was at the show and even bought an all access pass from one of the Syphic or #AFU guys, which I still have because I keep shit from pretty much every show I’ve ever been to. The SGV bands that I was used to seeing in backyards more than held their own and played just as good as the more well known bands on the bill. There was some underage drinking going on that day as well, so some of that day is a little hazy.
Towards the end of the festival I decided to use my pass for more than just hanging out with friends in the VIP room, so I made myself at home at some steps on the side of the stage to watch #Tongue (I need to do a post on them!) and #DRI which is how I got the set list from both bands.
#DezCadena of #BlackFlag came out near the end of Tongue’s set to join them on vocals for a couple songs. The set list says they did “Jealous Again” by Black Flag and “I Got a Right,” but I don remember them playing that song. What I do remember is them covering part of “Flashlight” by Parliament, which was messy but they pulled it off pretty well.
A way you can help the world we live in in one small way: please stop using amazon and buy locally, any large producer is funneling money out of the middle class working economy and the money does NOT trickle down from the top.
Hot Daymmmm... It has been quite some time since I read a book like this. NOPE.. I take it back.. I have never read a book like this in my 29 years of existance. I know this is fiction.. it is someone's idea of dystopia for Pete's sake! I should not have related so much to it! Dayumm.. if you have not read this already.. what are you waiting for? #thehandmaidstale#margretatwood#dystopia#totallyrelatable#thereandtheir
Gigastone Mine // She alone survived down here. She is the only life form in the abandoned mine, save the bacteria in her gut and the tiny mites living in her eyelashes. Yes, those exist on Yaldev too.
A torrent of mana had surged its way down the mineshaft, smiting all it came across. The mine was largely operated with child labour; this tradition was classical Oxadon and never vanished with the Ascended Empire's conquest. This girl alone was spared by the raging floods, regaining consciousness with her body in good health, despite the total blurring of her memories of her past life. She stands, and sees the wondrous scene around her. The surviving lighting system casts light on the great gems, carved perfectly by the tides of mana. Some might say the Aether imposed its own ideas of beauty on the world.
Slowly, she steps forward, her arms against her sides. She doesn't want to touch anything, fearing it might explode under the heat of her skin. The massive crystals recolour and redirect light to her eyes She wanders slowly, staying between the loose wires dislodged in the floods.
Sooner or later, she will emerge to Yaldev's surface, finding herself in a whole new world.
Lord of the Flies meets Random Disaster film, sprinkled with hints of Dawn of the Dead with a lot of annoying Tropes, a REALLY ANNOYING character (Brayden, I'm looking at you) and Stupid Decisions on the side. Read it. Took me a day. I like dystopian YA novels, but I'm afraid the next book I'll be reading will not be the sequel.
