No chance of a speeding ticket on this morning’s long run 😅
Happy to cover 20km today in not-too-bad conditions. Slowly building that base back up over the brutal summer months in preparation for smashing my 10km and half marathon PBs in the autumn 🏃♀️💪🏻
I am still desperately trying to escape the heat here ☀️ Training today started at 5am where I found a new urban trail in Sports City for working on technique 😍. This then was followed by some serious endurance for the body and mind... 18 holes of golf in 40+ degrees! 😅 a 2 hour nap was needed to recover 😴 I am now ready for a night of football though!
Me and my sweat patch are back in the game! 💦 The plan for the next 6 weeks is to simply maintain a regular running routine, and get strong and flexible. I’ll also be following @fitzgerald.matt’s 6 week quick start to drop some fat and say goodbye to the extra kilos I’ve gained since @comradesmarathon (two weeks drinking beer and eating all the food on a boat will do that to you). Then, I’ll be focusing on improving my speed over shorter distances with a 10km planned in October. Today is day 3, and so far, so good! 40 sweaty minutes followed by a strength session later 😊
In every area of life, the key to success is CONSISTENCY.
Whether it’s ☀️summer or any other 🌝🌧❄🌬 “season” of life, working out is no different.
You’ve got to OVERCOME YOUR EXCUSES and do the work. Even when, or perhaps especially when, it’s hard!!!.
♥️While summer is short, special, and should be savored, it’s not a vacation from your life.
If you choose to see the outdoors as your playground:
1. Get out early🕔.
2. Set summer goals✔.
3. Protect☂️, hydrate💧 and replenish🥃 your body
Then surely you can build and stick to your exercise routine even during these distraction/fun-filled summer months.
🎉🎉And that is what I call a win-win-win🎉🎉.
There is such a strong running community in Dubai and it’s great to be able to get them involved in our @asicsme coaching sessions and events 🏃♂️🏃♀️💪🏼

So that was a first...! I ran an ultra marathon today before breakfast 🍳 🤣37 degrees Celsius when we started, 40 when we finished... at 9am. A solid 5 hour training session in the bag in prep for @grossglockner_ultra_trail ! Bring on the cool fresh air at the end of this month!
#throwbackthursday to a 2hour morning run last week with @andymacdubai when the weather was alright compared to what I experienced last night! Still slightly traumatised. Please be kind Dubai weather tomorrow morning for the BIG run! Or it might become more of a walk!
