Throwback Thursday to just after I ran the 5k race at the EAA Airventure annual fly-in. (2016)
I was concerned because it was incredibly hot (it always is at Oshkosh!) and I had gotten only a few late night runs in to maintain my run fitness that week. But of course, I had been walking in the heat 15-20+miles a day as a part of looking at all of the aviation goodness. ✈️🚁🛩🛸
Despite my fears, my 5k time was identical to my Firecracker 5k time on Independence Day a few weeks prior.
No worries! 🏃♂️Trust your training and your fitness.
Six miles at marathon pace. I am SO grateful that this week is a planned step back week. I needed some shorter runs and a less demanding training schedule...if only for a week. Still battling this almost 3 week old cough. Yesterday’s 5 mile tempo (8:19) had me winded, hacking and coughing the entire time, so now that I got that in and nailed today’s run, I’m gonna try and go slow the next three days. Next week is my second of three peak training weeks, and I really need it to go well. Marathon training is such a mind game sometimes, and during the holidays it gets even more difficult. Doing my best to keep my nutrition on point, but I have to admit I’ve indulged a bit in some delectable Texas Trash that was sent to us as a gift this week. After two nights of having a hard time putting it down, I finally handed it to my step daughter and told her to keep it out of my sight! Seriously though, we have to allow ourselves some rewards during our training, and especially if we’re training through the holidays. Holiday training is TOUGH! There are so many things we become disciplined at during a training cycle. As long as we don’t do anything to sabotage the work we’ve put in, a little indulgence is ok, and we shouldn’t feel guilty about it. It’s about balance. Life is a balance with happiness and satisfaction being met when neither side of the balance is tipped. Find your balance in life, and whatever you do, try some Texas Trash... for real, y’all! Happy Friday eve!!

A big congratulations to my client Rob who has been working hard in his personal training sessions following my tailored duathlon strength training programme. The programme included weekly power/ explosive training and weekly endurance training in preparation for the Rempstone Estate Off Road Duathlon near Corfe Castle. Rob successfully completed the December duathlon which began with a 2.5 mile run, followed by a 2 lap 11 mile bike ride and finished with another 2.5 mile run through forest tracks. #anytimefitnesspoole#duathlon#rempstoneestate#strengthtraining#offroad
Happy Mother’s Day to my biggest fan! From supporting me through over a decade of university, coming with me to get tattoos, cheering me on through long endurance races, flying across the country multiple times to help me move...this lady will do it all! Thinking of all the other hard-working mamas in my life, thanks for letting me play with your kids! 😉 #pearlizumi#xterra#offroad#duathlon#specializedwomen
