I had my final workshop of 2018 today. A wonderfully festive workshop with treats, tea and lovely chat with a group of amazingly talented women 🎄
I genuinely can't believe my luck when I look back on this year. I was asked many times if I would consider teaching embroidery but after 6 years being a stay-at-home mum, I just didn't feel like I could do it, I didn't feel confident enough, I didn't think I was enough, in fact, I was quite happy to stitch at home, posting out commissions and chatting online because I was stuck in my comfort zone... and then @thecreativenib got in touch, we'd never met, we were Insta buddies. Now Caron is not only a master of her calligraphy craft but she is a wonderful, supportive woman who champions others on... I took the plunge and thanks to Caron and I've never looked back. If you haven't tried one of Caron's workshops, you simply must! It's on my 2019 to do list! .
So the moral of this somewhat longwinded story is... take the plunge, go for it, try something new. I've grown as a person since teaching my craft. I've met many new friends and the satisfaction of seeing others gain new skills is the best feeling. And do you know what, I've proved myself wrong... I could do it, I just needed that little push and for someone to believe in me xxx
I’m using a little bit of my favorite gold ribbon in this very special piece. The last time I used it was in a weaving for my cousin (@cierawesley) and her hubby and now it makes me feel nostalgic. ❤️❤️
Absolutely #loving this #beautiful#painting !

Hello friends, I’m still here! I realized that I haven’t been on top of my instagram game lately but sometimes this stuff has to take a backseat and that’s okay. There have been some really big family things going on and we took a road trip up to DC (barely outdriving a giant snow storm) to say goodbye to and to celebrate the life of my favorite PopPop and be together as a family. That stuff is way bigger than this stuff and will always win when it comes down to it. But now that we are home, it’s full speed ahead - creating a custom blue version of this beauty in the next few days and while sometimes custom orders can be a little on the boring side when it comes to creativity, I am truly excited to make a new one of these with allllll the blues and get it to someone before Christmas!
Do you tend to drop some of your plates when others get a little heavier too or do you have tricks for multi-tasking when it comes to real life and work balance in a one person business?
Have been feeling unwell for the past couple of weeks but managed to get into the studio to collect a few pieces. This bowl could have been so good but for the bloating inside. A few unsightly blobs that could have been caused by faulty clay body or overfiring? 🤔
I forgot to say the main thing I wanted to say two days ago when posting my Christmas tableau: once again the back of my work is more beautiful than the front! I was so excited about my free time, all of my plans went out the window. Here's the close up of the back. Yummy, if I do say so myself!
noodling on new work after a week break and i have questions for you! ✨when you head into nature what places inspire you? what colors fill your home? what makes you feel peaceful? #lhwoven#lydiamagician

Drawing a birthmark with thread for a custom Witch’s Mark. Stitching the third layer, before adding color...
Let me turn a ‘flaw’ on your body in to a work of art/Witch’s Mark for $250, and I will donate 20% of the proceeds to @girlsinc to help empower young women. Follow the link in my profile to my shop for details. 🙌🏻
In an era of witch hunting, any imperfection on a woman could be used to condemn her to death. ‘Witch’s Marks’ began as a series of intimate tapestries depicting portraits of flaws on my own body. As women, we are constantly told to erase any evidence of trial or hardship our flesh has endured. They are afraid that if we keep these ritual marks, we will remember. They are terrified that we will learn to celebrate these bodies; crucibles of infinite strength.
Do you prefer winter or summer?
As winter moves in for the season, it’s a perfect time to warm up your space with this desert-chic trend. I love Sara's idea from @sadies_lovely_life. Keep the winter outside by bringing warm desert vibes into your living room.
Desert-chic shines like no other when it comes to playing with different textures, plenty of natural materials, and a whole lot of greenery. I think it is a must to keep the look clean and not too eclectic. My favourite colour: Blush
By the way, is someone in this tribe going to the Grand Final of Polo in Palermo, Buenos Aires tomorrow?
Do at least one good deed a day. It’s so simple. Be kind. Be thoughtful. Compliment someone. Help someone who needs your physical strength. Smile at a stranger. Hold the door open. Leave someone a kind note who wasn’t expecting it. You have no idea what an impact you can make - and then in turn, your thoughtfulness creates waves. My thing is - and always will be - the ocean. I walk alongside her everyday in awe. I honor the gift she gives me every day. The calm. The sounds. The salt air. The waves. My meditation. Picking up the trash along the way is my gift back to her. And you know what? People walking by start thanking me. And before I know it, I’m watching them start picking up trash. And then we are all smiling. Create a wave of goodness wherever you go.... 🙏
Personally, I tend to buy myself plenty of gifts as I check everyone else off my list. Nobody knows what I want better than me, and Besides, I want some of that good mail too!
So far, I have indulged in shoes, jeans, a rug, (3 actually!) a lamp and a bed frame..... and there will probably be some art coming as I hit some local markets next weekend.
If you are eyeing something, my shop is stocked and shipping is free, so it’s a good time to reward yourself for buying all of those gifts. 😉
