As of today, I’m 30 days alcohol-free and 32 days away from the start of school (but who’s counting). This is the third time I’ve been 30 days #AF this year. The first time was during #dryjanuary . The second time was during #thealcoholexperiment .
The first time felt momentous and incredible. And also a bit nerve-wracking. I committed to Dry January out of desperation. I was determined to see it through - I am a rule-follower after all - but I was expecting the month to be torture. Instead, it was a revelation. By day 30, I remember feeling so much joy as my brain blossomed with clarity, but I also felt nervous about the month coming to an end. Two days more and drinking was an option again. Pride underscored by trepidation. New-found grace tinged with same old nerves.
The second time I hit the 30-day milestone, I was on day 23 of #TAE . Very much still in the thick of my learning, sopping up Annie Grace’s daily offerings like a sponge. I had started taking my time with TAE, partly because I really wanted to absorb and process the information; and partly because I did not want the 30-day experiment to end. I finally completed it on day 50, determined to make it to 60 days AF. I had my first drink around day 76. Attempted moderation turned quickly to constant cognitive dissonance. No bueno.
This time, there is no end that is nigh. I am only 30 days into a 365-day journey. Not even a tenth of the way through! And that feels great.
July 5, 2019, take your time. No rush. I know you’ll be here all too soon. And I’ll be ready for you. But take your time, really. I’m good 😊 #oneyearalcoholfree#oyaf#oyafaf#soberaf
With confirmation of my food intolerances comes a new dawn. Never in a million years would I have thought that eating certain food types (apart from a high in fat and sugar content, obviously) would have such a dramatic effect on my weight and not for the better. Despite all of my healthy eating and my resurgence at tackling my weight and giving my self to #slimmingworld 100% since the end of May, I have virtually stayed the same. Frustrated and in despair I have sought the help of alternative therapists to get me where I am today. I cannot thank #tmitesting and Gail my practicing #kinesiologist enough. So armed with what I now know, I am focusing on what I can have to help towards my goal. Anyone who tells you that giving up or avoiding certain foods is easy is wrong... my guess is they’ve never had to do it long term. Doing #dryjanuary or giving up chocolate for lent provides a light at the end. Food intolerances don’t. Take Wheat as one of my intolerances it is in practically everything, I’ve even found it in a tin of baked beans. This is Not necessarily because it is has been added but because the factory where that food item has been handled or produced also handles wheat, so the manufacturer cannot guarantee that it is wheat free. This therefore narrows down the alternatives that a wheat intolerant person can have. #foodintolerance is on the increase and thankfully the supermarkets have a good range of free from products to choose from although the prices are higher and you cannot always guarantee that they won’t run out as they restock to cater for the demand. With more and more people being #lactoseintolerant#wheatintolerant supermarkets I hope will lower their prices too #slimmingworldwithfoodintolerances#slimmingworlduk#livingwithfoodintolerances#foodintolerances#wheatintolerance#lactoseintolerance#onionintolerance#lettuceintolerance

Did anyone see Live Well For Longer on @channel4 last night? The first episode of the series was about alcohol! #dryjanuary
And in tonight’s episode, one of the most fascinating experiments of the series, all of these gorgeous girls give up alcohol for one month. The results are ASTONISHING. If you’ve ever gone dry in January, it’s definitely worth a watch 🍺 #alcohol#dryjanuary#livewellforlonger 📷: @katequilton
Things we’d rather smell like than alcohol:
- puppybreath 🐶
- flowers 🌸
- fresh-cut grass 🌱
- cake 🍰
- the tropics 🏝
- a tiny asteroid ☄️
- dad jokes 🃏
- a career as an invisible detective🧥
Did we miss anything?

Just wow! I know it's a paid promotion but this has to be one of the most ridiculous articles I've read in a long time! To give you a taster, this is my favourite line: "And if you don't have a special reason? Surviving the daily grind and maintaining a work-life balance is enough!" If we need a drink to 'survive' a day in our own lives then perhaps we need to spend a little more time crafting a life we don't need to escape from. I know that everyone has stresses in their life, but alcohol has been shown to increase depression and anxiety, so it's not a long term solution. Disappointed in @popsugarfitness ⠀

At six months sober and well over 500 followers (wow!) I’m ready to start sharing more with you babes. I’ll be posting my own sobriety before and after shortly (when I’ve built up the nerve). The more time goes by the happier I am with this decision to be a non-drinker. I’m the same person, but I don’t put poison in my body any more. I’m more settled in who I am and what I want for myself. I’m a kinder and more compassionate person. Leave me a comment if you’re thinking about ditching the booze - I promise it’s worth it x
Fact: Old school cool is the coolest cool.
We hope to be a place that brings people together. Young and old, from Brooklyn or Brazil, with different bodies, identities and ideas.
That’s also the America we celebrate today - open. Bringing different people together.
For too many people, that isn’t true now, and wasn’t true in the past.
Cheers to those working to make it the future.

100 days sober. Who? Me? The one who never managed Dry January, or Stoptober? Whaaat?!?! 🎉🖒 When I decided to stop drinking, I met someone who had made the same decision quite recently. They had been alcohol free for 13 days, almost 2 weeks! I had less than 24 hours. I remember when I met them, being so in awe of their 2 weeks total sobriety. By 4 days sober, I was elated. Of course, I had been 4 days without drinking plenty of times, but this was quitting. Yes, that is different. After a couple of starts, I was 100% sober for just shy of 4 months. I've posted before about how I realised by 4 months in that I had been focussing on 'giving up' alcohol rather than maintaining and celebrating sobriety, and, not surprisingly with that perspective, I started to feel like I was missing out. There was a period of about 2 weeks where I really went hard on proving to myself that alcohol is a drug (🙈), started sober living again with a new perspective and haven't looked back since. The difference now is that I do not want to drink. No inclination at all. I have learnt so much since September and although 100 days isn't the only sobriety I can claim and be proud of, it is the most transformational. I have been sober for about 8 of the past 9 months. Wow. Just wow. Every mistake, I have learnt something from, and I will continue to be open about and celebrate sobriety. I love the conversations that have emerged, connections that have been made, and the slow but sure societal shift in terms of how we think about alcohol. 100 days of forever. Yesssss. Big shoutout to my other best friend Sophie, for her amazing support on this journey. This girl bought me a present for my first month! She just gets it. 😗 #soberaf#sobriety#sobrietyrocks#teetotal#alcoholfree#alcoholfreeaf#idontdrink#dryjanuary#stoptober#learning#wellbeing#soberrevolution#sobermovement#ink#girlswithink#tattoo#Tt
Technically, you can never be anyone else 👽
But that doesn’t always mean it’s easy to be comfortable or confident being ourselves. Especially if we’re awkward, or anxious, or just an odd duck 🦆
That’s ok. We’ll be your practice ground.
When it seems like everyone else has it all figured out, or when you meet charming people to whom it all seems to come so naturally, just remember that confidence is a muscle, and you can totally build it 💪
We’ll spot ya. 😎
Don’t count anymore, just checked my app and it’s over 9 months #sober BOOOOM 🍻😂Thank You @oneyearnobeer for all your support and the wonderful community that always has your back! #alcholfree#soberlife
