Narikura tonkatsu already had a long queue despite we coming half an hour before opening time during a rainy day. I was told the queue was usually one to two hours so half an hour under the rain wasn't so bad. The tonkatsu restaurant has a silver medal on Japanese website and is Michelin Bib Gourmand 2017 for Tokyo. Ordering is another challenge but luckily I can read kanji to understand the pork breeds and cuts of meat. I opted for loin part of Kiramugi (煌麦豚) which has a lovely flavour while wifey picked an exquisite hire (tenderloin) part of Yukimuro-Jukusei buta or known as Snow-aged Pork (雪室熟成豚) rated highly for its tenderness. It was an enjoyable meal and the pork was amazing. I had now tried the top 3 tonkatsu places in Japan and I would rate Manger as my number one, Narikura as my number two and Tonta as number three. Tonta has better crust but they don't offer much choices in terms of pork breed selections but if comparing similar breeds Tonta would be better in my opinion. Manger is my top choice in terms of crust, flavour, choices of breeds and having an English menu (plus I love their foie gras stuffed tonkatsu!)

Why indeed, especially when it includes bourbon toffee brown butter chocolate chip cookies? Where to begin...browning butter for cookie recipes takes time but oh, so worth it for the depth and nuttiness it adds. Chocolate pairs so well with a slight punch of bourbon, be it in the cookie and/or with the cookie👌🥃❤️ Add little bits of toffee for some crunch and voilà, you have a perfect cookie for happy hour...or any hour🤗
You can dress up toast in so many different ways, there's really no excuse for skipping breakfast.
We couldn't decide on sweet or savory toast, so we went with both!
