SHOWER BEER WEDNESDAY! 🚿
Where do we begin? Classic?... Maybe. Inspirational?... Definitely. One word, however, stands out.
If Arrogant Bastard is the beer all brewers pay homage to while postulating on their beer journey, this is the @stonebrewing they drink every day.
First released in 1997, showcasing Colombus, Centennial and Chinook, hitting us at 6.9% and 77 gloriously balanced IBUs. However over the years the recipe has changed, despite popular opinion. The simple C hops of yesteryear are now complimented with Magnum, Azacca, Calypso, Motueka, Vic Secret and Ella - a very interesting collection of hops compared to the original. But obviously intended to replicate and even improve it's flavour whilst utilising seasonal variants to deliver consistency all year round.
Ah Stone. If only I could afford to drink you every day. Imagine when we as a brewing nation produce this, and australia does produce great beer, but getting to the point of this being considered so STANDARD. And available. Remember brew lords. Just because something is new and unattainable does not mean it is better. "Cheers to the noble art of brewing" Greg Koch - @winstonbar November 2018
I love Fieldwork and think they can do no wrong with juicy IPAs but the High Sea IPA was...interesting. The sea salt is noticeable and the saltiness built up the more you drank. There’s straight up orange juice in this, which may be why I didn’t notice any dankiness in this at all. This may work better as a 8 oz serving size - I never leave beer undrank but I didn’t finish this one 🍊🍺🤔
Keeping the porter train going, this time with a trip across the Atlantic. A staple for me, @fullers Porter is the quintessential English porter. It's super smooth and creamy with roasted malts, chocolate and lots of dark fruit. I can only imagine how great this would be on cask.
On miserable #raincouver days like today a tropical beverage can be an amazing respite from the weather. Tropical Daydream fills your mouth with a popping citrus and pineapple party. At only $4 a pint at @powellbeer Mon-Thurs it’s the cheapest vacation you’ll ever go on 🌞🍍🌴
Saved the best—or at least, my favorite—for last: cognac barrel aged Worthy Adversary. I’m not a cognac drinker, but I do love Russian Imperial Stouts, and I wasn’t sure what to hope for at first, then I cracked open the can and was hit in the smeller by booze-soaked, chocolate covered dark fruit like cherries, dates, and red raisins. Then the first sip: otherworldly! Big roasted malt and baker’s chocolate, followed by charred oak and cognac heat—mostly on the front of the palate—with toffee on the lips. I expected sweetness because of the nose, and worried it might be overpowering and cloying. Happy to report that the sweetness is minimal and fleeting and because of that, the beer is very pleasing. Smooth on the swallow with no burn—again, the aroma set me up to go one way, but the beer took me in another direction, and there wasn’t any heat on the finish. This defied my expectations in the best possible way. Hoping for more of these barrel aged offerings from @fultonbeer in the future!
Didn't take any pictures inside @brickfarmtavern but took a few of the dope share! @troonbrewing anniversary party was awesome and I definitely had too much fun.... I don't wanna look at beer for a while haha.
Congrats to Alex and Tom! And phenomenal job from the Brick Farm team! Can't wait for next year!! Finally got to try some @reddragonbrewery and they are no joke!
This is my first experience with #theotherbrian and boy is it a good one. Clocking in at 8.5%, this hazy DIPA is packed with sweet fruit flavors and a perfect amount of hops. I’ve been nothing but impressed with @greencheekbeer so far. I like that their beers vary from release to release and they don’t all end up tasting the same. But back to this one... the nose is fruit and hops, hinting at a slight bitterness when you taste it. I originally smelled a little bubblegum when I popped this baby, but now it’s hops and fruit. It looks great too, murky to the max, a perfect visual match for the soft mouth feel that follows. There’s a bitterness here that’s good. I’m not usually a fan of too much bitterness, but in this case the bitter-fruit-hop balance works for me. I don’t know... orange, pineapple, peaches...it’s so good! Smooth and silky, this is a definite winner! And a BIG thanks to @jmvanderveen1 for grabbing me a 4-pack! 🙏#greencheekbeerco#greencheekbeer#reebs#craftbeer#beer#craftbeersnob#hazydipa#hazybeer#hazy#drinkcraftbeer#drinklocalbeer#juicy#juicebomb
First time using these High-Oil Cascade hops from @segalhopranch and we couldn't be more pumped. It is the star of the show in an upcoming Double IPA we brewed with 100% Franco-Belges Pale Ale Malt. Look for it on tap in the coming weeks!
