The Boulevardier: timeless and elegantly simple. We were lucky to receive a bottle of 10 year Bourbon from @russellsreservebourbon to make this classic from the 1920s. Velvety smooth with a tinge of sweetness from corn 🌽, the Bourbon is the star of this cocktail. 💫 A big part of our (hot!) Sunday was sipping these outside under the shade. 😎
Each of the three components in a Boulevardier is impactful, so it works best when you have really great ingredients. 💯 We paired the Russell's with Cinzano Rosso Vermouth, which reminds us a bit of Spanish Vermut: it’s less sweet than say, Antica, with a little oxidized nuttiness and a touch of vanilla. It works well here since Bourbon already has a sweet note.
The OG Boulevardier specs are equal parts, but modern bartenders (and us!) prefer it a little heavier on the whiskey. 💪
Russell’s Classic Boulevardier
1 oz Russell’s Reserve 10 Year Old Bourbon*
1 oz Campari
1 oz Cinzano 1757 Sweet Vermouth
Garnish: Orange twist
Pour ingredients into a mixing glass and fill with cracked ice. Stir well for 20 seconds and strain into a chilled rocks glass over fresh ice. Add garnish 🍊.
*We prefer ours with 1 ½ oz of Bourbon.
