The dragons have declared war on humans. Two of the seven dragon sanctuaries have already fallen. Will Wyrmroost be next?
After a humiliating defeat at the hands of Kendra and Seth, Celebrant, King of Dragons, prepares to unleash his fury and take control of his native preserve. Armed with information from a new ally—Ronodin, the dark unicorn—Celebrant seeks a legendary talisman—the dominion stone. However, the powerful stone is protected by a cursed castle. Can Kendra and Seth foil Celebrant’s plan and beat him to his prize? Will the two young caretakers rally enough support from the creatures of Wyrmroost against the greatest threat the magical community has faced in ages? One thing is for certain. Dragons are wicked smart. It will take more than Kendra, Seth, and their current allies to outwit and outmatch the wrath of the Dragon King.
Available in Hardback and Unabridged Book on CD.

🌟🌟🌟🌟 It's been a while since I was entranced by the Fablehaven world. It was nice to get back. It felt like an old friend. I loved the humor and the quips. I also loved the interaction between characters. At one of the major scenes toward the end of the book, I realized I was literally sitting on the edge of my seat while I was reading. That's a good sign.
There were a couple times that I wished for more description. For example, someone was described several times as being very fast, but in relation to what? I wanted to see how fast they were. I wanted it to be shown to me.
This book is definitely worth the read. I picked up the second one today.
While I enjoyed reading “Dragonwatch” last year and the delightful return to Fablehaven in this new companion series, I found it to be a little less high stakes than Fablehaven had been. So I was eager to read “Wrath of the Dragon King” to see the next step and journey Brandon Mull has in store for us. And I have to tell you, I was not disappointed in this round with lots of action, battle--and if you thought you were here for the dragons, I have two words for you: Dark. Unicorn. .
Today I’m excited to be on the blog tour for this return to “Dragonwatch”. First I should be clear that while “Dragonwatch” is a companion series to “Fablehaven” (both middle grade series) and you don’t have to have read “Fablehaven” to read it (Mull does a good job of inserting short and to-the-point information on things that a reader would only know via “Fablehaven”) there will be spoilers to “Fablehaven”. .
Things I love about Mull’s writing is there is a lot of humor, a lot of magic, and really interesting characters. (I am constantly delighted by the humor of his books) I love the way he writes his characters and how you really get to know them. While we are still following Kendra and Seth in this new series, among the many new characters that we meet, Mull introduces Kendra and Seth’s cousins, Knox and Tess. And while they had a smaller part to play in book one, they become significantly more involved in book two. .
“Wrath of the Dragon King” starts right where “Dragonwatch” ends and the stakes elevate very quickly. The dragons are rebelling against their caretakers and dragon sanctuaries are beginning to fall to the dragons. But the way this book evolves!! Let’s just say that all the ways I’ve wanted to see Seth and Kendra grow seem to starting in this book. AND THE CLIFFHANGER! I’m very eager to follow this story line. .
It’s so hard to talk about a second book in a series without spoiling anything, but I will say this--if you haven’t read these, I very much recommend them. They are at the top of my recommendation list for any middle grader and anyone who enjoys middle grade stories (or, I mean, obviously, DRAGONS) .
Dragonwatch Wrath of the Dragon King by Brandon Mull
I just finished reading this one. I liked it a lot better than the first book in this series, even though there’s still not an answer to a question I have on something that doesn’t make sense after the ending of Fablehaven. I try not to let that bug me too much though and just enjoy the story for what it is. I’m annoyed at the ending - but in the “how can I wait a year to find out what happens next” way. 😂
Went to Brandon Mull’s AWESOME book launch this weekend for WRATH OF THE DRAGON KING and I won’t be able to look at book signings the same again. Such a blast for our whole family. We were huge fans before but now my boys are die-hard.
This unfortunately isn't a great quality picture, but Paige was very excited to also meet Author Chad Morris. He wrote the Cragbridge Hall books, which she loved! He autographed a bookmark for her and they talked for a bit.
So I finished this a few minutes ago, and wow that cliffhanger was #rude I waited a year and a half after the last cliffhanger-ish ending and this one was worse. I thought I was over this kinda #youngadultfiction#drama once I gave up on #percyjackson 😂😂😂😂 my stepdad asked me what I was reading this morning and I said a book for 12 year olds (to be fair I literally did read the original #fablehaven series when I WAS 12 so) ugh
Has anyone else read this yet and want to talk about it cause honestly...so rude
Kicking off Whitney’s birthday weekend right at the Brandon Mull book release party for the second book in his #dragonwatch series. The illustrator, Brandon Dorman, was there and I was planning on asking him to draw me a unicorn. But then I decided it would be more fun to have both Brandons draw a unicorn. And then on my way out I snagged the actor who was there representing the dark unicorn and had him draw me one too. 😂 they all did pretty great 🦄 swipe right for the drawings.
In my dreams, I’m the lookout on the top platform, watching the skies, looking for 🔥 breathing dragons 🐉 ... ‘if you missed it’ ... past post revival ... ’dystöpia remixed’ 🖤
dystopian outpost ... ⬛️⚫️
"I wanted to be accepted by my father and my fellow dragons. But not at the cost of who I am"
I've been in a reading slump for I dont know how long and the seasonal depression isn't helping, but I finished the second book to Fablehaven's sequal series Dragonwatch: Wrath of the Dragon King in less than 2 days. It's tricky trying to express how much I love these stories! They have been a light through some of my darkest times growing up and I'm thankful I get to carry these books and the lessons they've taught me in my heart as an adult. And, holy snotballs, batman! that ending!! *screeching noise* *throws self off roof* Brandon Mull absolutely does not ever disappoint
Homeschool field trip: Steele’s favorite author was doing a presentation and book signing today - so we loaded up the minivan and drove out to Simi Valley to meet him. Thank goodness the newly released Dragonwatch 2 arrived today! It was awesome to meet Brandon Mull! So cool to see a 14x NYT bestselling author so humble, kind and relatable. We highly recommend all of his books #Fablehaven#candyshopwars#dragonwatch#fivekingdoms#homeschool#gaggleofgagnons
