DAY 1 | Downward Facing Dog
Welcome to the first day of our challenge! Remember that it’s never to late to join! I’ll be talking about some common misalignment that may come with each pose! But do understand that everyone may have different modifications and adjustments due to our unique bodies! So what may work for some people, may not be fitted to your practice!
Misalignment - Sometimes our shoulders may press up against the shoulders or the elbows will point to the side, instead of pointing back.
Possible solution: Create space in the chest and shoulders by drawing the shoulder blades back towards your hips/legs. Keep your arms firm (without hypertension) and rotate your triceps towards you, to hug your body.

Today we have downdog. Check out my IGTV for exploration and demonstration. It's my first video, sorry for all of the 'sooo...' moments and bad quality of the video 😂 still I hope is helpful!! Ok, now my tips(!):
1. Try to measure your downdog from child pose, with time body remembers, you'll not need this.
2. Hands shoulders distance apart, the whole hand is on the mat (!), fingers wide, pressure in your fingertips, so you will not put your weight on your wrists.
3. Rotation outside in your upper shoulders. If you are flexible in your shoulders, think about this one more, because someone says that is shoulder stretch, but it's not good to put all of your weight in your joints! You can stretch your shoulders in other way.
4. Ribs in, active core!
5. Tailbone slightly out (if you have naturally tailbone out, think in! Also when you standing too (cooking or waiting for your bus)), practice to get the feeling and for your body too.
6. Knees can be bend if you are not flexible in your hamstrings and foots don't need to be all on the ground. With time, when you have your upper body and that space in your spine, you will slowly have the flexibility too.
7. Think that you are in handstands, the energy goes back, not down.
8. Breathe!!! :)

This past weekend, @nomad.david and I introduced some good friends to southern Utah. Specifically, we introduced them to our crazy life of spider-climbing through canyons, leaping over (and under) rocks, and rappelling after creating our own anchor.
Suffice it to say, we had SO MUCH FUN, we gained several well-deserved bruises, and we’re all sore and happy. Not bad for a hiking weekend!

Able to get up into headstand so much more freely and hold it — now onto making sure my feet are also aligned without having a banana back!
The pup could resist doing her own down dog & booping me in the head with her bone. She thinks my mat is hers!
Please note that Monday’s power Yoga is now from 6:00 to 7:00! Also note that on Saturday I was fortunate to run the Seawheeze put on my by @lululemon and as a result of that I can barely walk 😂. FYI. This is a perfectly acceptable downward dog. Whatever feels good in your body, is the PERFECT pose.
Instagram has done yoga a huge disservice. Very few yogis actually look like those text book photos when practising. It’s actually impossible for some of our builds. So please, never aim for that. Aim for feels, not for look.
