It doesn’t matter how young or old you are, whether you are flexible or stiff as a board, what shape and size you may be - Yoga is for everyone in the universe! There are no rules or pre-requirements - it’s about having the awareness and courage to get on the mat and surrender to its magic...
Yoga makes you feel better. Practising the postures, breathing exercises and meditation makes you healthier in body, mind and spirit. ... What's more, Yoga: Improves muscle tone, flexibility, strength and stamina.
So maybe have a play and get on a mat today - it’s for everyone 🧘♀️
Upper back pain 3/3 - Stabilising the shoulders:
Having hurt my upper back lately I’ve been doing gentle exercises to relieve the pain.
Our instinct with any back pain is usually to stretch but this could often make it worse.
Upper back/between the shoulder and neck pain is usually caused by bad posture in the day due to work (desk job, lots of driving) or from resistance against something I.e sitting or laying poorly for a period of time... but whatever the cause, it’s usually due to our scapulas being over stretched away from each other, head leaning down and our chest being hollowed out, causing strain on the rhomboids, trapezius and levator scapulae.
To reduce pain in the area the best thing to do is stretch out the imbalance... we can do this by:
* opening the chest and the front of the shoulders, and strengthening the neck
* Creating mobility in the thoracic spine to reduce stiffness
* Stabilising and realigning the shoulder blades

🤔 HOW MINDFULNESS HAS HELP MY YOGA PRACTICE? • Well for starters I don't rush into anything. I take my time to feel, and observe my breath, my body and my mind.
I🧘🏻 personally prefer to slowly, with precision and control, go to my #pinchamayurasana . I don't like jumping to pincha, it's like jumping to the unknown and at the mercy of gravity. Instead, I enjoy moving my every piece of my body one breath at the time. .
Also, mindfulness helps me to enjoy my practice, to play with it and do not take it so serious. One practice at the time! • Happy #ForearmFriday my yogis .
