So no I don’t have any fancy picture of me surrounded by a mound of presents or me in bed surrounded by a million balloons (although I do think that would be fun to shoot). No instead I spent the day pretty much doing the usual although I did 3 hours of Designated Survivor and am about to crack open a tub of Ben and Jerry’s Birthday Cake ice cream on the sofa. Damn. I've been proud of myself in the last few days have spent a weekend swimming and doing 2 workouts, plus some coaching on technique and form for crossfit. Then, doughnuts get brought into the office and I lose all self control.

Hello, from a former sugar addict! 👋 Sugar is an addiction, similar to any other. The more sugar you eat, the more you crave it! (I work at Starbucks so you all probablyknow the kind of temptation I have to deal with 😅)
We already know that sugar is responsible for unhealthy weight gain, but did you know that sugar also has so many other negative effects on our body. Unstable blood sugar can cause mood swings, fatigue and headaches. It increases stress and also is connected to the acceleration of aging. Don't even get me started on what it does to those pearly whites of yours. 😬
The very first thing you should do when you are craving something sweet is to drink WATER 💦 Our body in dehydration might actually translate to us thinking we need/want sugar! Don't be fooled! Our body doesn't ever need sugar as fuel to function! •
Water might not always do the trick for you so it's best to have a backup. My biggest advice when it comes to cutting the cravings are to always have healthy alternatives and/or distractions. Stock up on fresh fruits, yogurts, apple sauce or whatever other healthy snack you prefer.
I'll be honest when saying that the first couple weeks are torture. You're body wants that doughnut more than anything it's ever wanted, but you need to STAY STRONG 💪🏻 You CAN do this. In a couple sugar-free weeks, you're cravings will ease and you can walk by that dessert shop and not even look back 😜
Of course, don't deny yourself of all sweet things in life. Just make sure to save them for the occasional treats or special occasions. •
