I learned that if you can't accept something then change it. If you can't change it then leave it. I took this a bit differently in a situation with my own house (a rehab project of, well, too long) and needed to do some coaching around it and it reminded me of the state my clients often come in with in regards to their body. That is, trying to change something they don't accept. I get the sentiment of changing it if you don't accept something but if that doesn't work then you are to leave it. How do you leave your body? Not ideal right?! The goal, to me, is to learn to accept it first as that gives you the power to change it if you still want to after. When you do this for action to change comes from love instead of fear or hate. Big difference with the energy around that.

This is such a massively simple piece of advice but I would bet a pretty penny that most of you don’t do this
•
Think about it like this; your brain is one of the most advanced computers on the planet - yet the majority of entrepreneurs are running around with 50 tabs open, multiple windows, some music is playing somehow AND still being asked if you want to ‘run updates’ (and I click EVERY time on ‘remind me tomorrow’)
•
The easiest system I know is in my ‘I GET SH*T DONE’ planner, and if you haven’t heard of or seen my 3/5 system I’ll give you the bones:
•
a) Do a massive brain dump of literally everything you have to do (work and personal)
b) rank everything from 1-3 where:
1 = time/biz critical, urgent, only you can do it
2 = important but not urgent
3 = can be don’t anytime
•
If you have more than 25-30 1’s - ya not being harsh enough
•
Then put a minimum of 3 a maximum of 5 x 1’s into your planner/diary and JUST DO THAT
•
IF you have time, a few 2’s and 3’s but if you JUST focus on the 1’s you will be amazed at
- how much you actually do
- how less stressed you are
- how much time you Fanny about doing ‘busy fool’ stuff
•
What you often think is important and what REALLY is important are two different things; when you start to write it down and be HONEST and CRITICAL - you grow
•

I KNOW THE AVERAGE ATTENTION SPAN IS SHORT....BUT PLEASE READ 😁A lot of times we perceive ourselves as who we would like to become. This is one of the most dangerous and subtle lies that can be told. If you believe you are something that you have not yet become, you block your ability to become it. In order to become something great, you must first know who you actually are and where you need to improve. If you put a bandaid over an infected wound, you can no longer see it, it is perceived to be in good shape.....but the wound is still there, and still infected, even if it can not be seen. Remove the band aid. See your self where you are right now, then treat the infection. The Result??......... CONFIDENCE (are don’t have to feel like a fraud because you can now be genuine)........... GROWTH (you can now identify areas that need to be worked on because you are being honest with yourself).........RESPECT (people can smell insecurity from a mile a way, when you are real, raw, and genuine, you will be respected)..........SUCCESS ( practicing this as a habit will result in success over time. I likely have not thought enough about this over the years. It’s just so natural to check in on those who we assume need it more and that after all, the strong ones remain strong always, right?

As I flip through what feels like a veritable cabinet of curiosities, my mind (slightly begrudgingly) acknowledges the many times in which I’ve neglected, time and time again, to check in on the strong ones. Those figures whose seeming infallibility cover a human hurricane of emotions (hi mom and dad! hello there teachers! I see you friend/sister who protected me and allowed me to take some pretty scary risks!)

As I move along my path, I find myself both self reflecting as well as observing more deeply the roles that my peers and colleagues, a #formation of healers, advocates, mind-bodyworkers and human justice warriors, play in holding space for others...the sheer grace and courage it takes to step aside and care for that and those who may not affect them directly.

How scary would it be to know that the strong ones also crumble? That they also fall to their knees and ache with their hearts wide open?

Check in on the strong ones. They need you.

Today I am actively going check in on (via my words, my dollars, my visible allyship etc.) those who do the work daily. I see you. This post was very much inspired, amongst others, by Rachel Cargle (@rachel.cargle), Layla F Saad (@laylafsaad), Lauren Chakkalackal (@grace_chakkalackal), Ming Ming Kwan @mmkwan717), Katie Kwan (@katiekwansf). Did one of my favorite hikes this past Sunday.  Active recovery for me includes moving (be it slower) and being in nature, as I’m a true outdoor junkie.  Being surrounded by good company was just an added bonus.  Building stronger bonds with my little family and creating good relationships with others is part of my mental and emotional recovery.  When you truly invest in your loved ones and in your friendships, you find the best version of YOU.  Then...that shit just trickles down to all other aspects of your life.  Working on me first has greatly affected all other aspects of my life.  I’m still learning but I’m loving the process.

Summer is my "off" season. I don't love it. I don't feel particularly well. I don't feel particularly creative. So, I use summer as a time to think.

I went into this summer wanting to dial up my productivity, ignoring what I know to be true about myself during this season. I wanted to create products! I wanted to write a book!

As an entrepreneur, you're always learning about yourself and your work. I learn something new every day. My big lesson this summer: lean in to what you have instead of feeling guilty about what you don't.

Instead of writing a book, I've nurtured relationships. Instead of creating products, I found new clients. Both are fantastic for my business, even though they aren't the goals I set myself at the beginning of June.

Right now, I'm working on becoming more strategic in my own business with how I schedule myself and plan out my work and my goals. That comes with hard truths and acceptance.

Today, I'm working on accepting that for me, this is a client growth season, a relationship-building season. I need that. My business needs that. My portfolio needs that. My bank account needs that. But my brain wanted something else--something that, in reality, is a nice to have right now rather than a must have.

A morally shitty person can still make choices that would benefit a whole if they wanted, in theory. Supposed liberals n Democrats don’t realize they’re being baited just as much as any trump supporter. It’s hard to understand everything that goes on in the national & international political field, things can look one way but, really have implications for something completely different. All the more reason to pause before u cast judgement. One should have self conviction for judgement made, n it’s so easy to let yourself + the media high jack your mind n in no time you’re making all kinds of insinuations n assumptions, from 0-100 n didn’t even notice u just got token for a ride. I’m no exception I’m just the one who realized n brought it to light. No one likes to get played but time n time again we allow the media to turn us into PlayStations, n again we barely notice. Love. .

At the most basic sense of it, love is what you are. Love has a vibration, a frequency. .

Did you know that the music of The Beatles vibrates at the same frequency of love? .

Turn on their music to align with love and your true nature. .

The vibration of love is very powerful. It can transform patterns in the body that we’ve developed in reaction to trauma and grief. It heals and repairs the fractures in our hearts, minds, bodies, souls. .

Love connects you to the Source of it all. 
I want to clarify that I’m not speaking of romantic love, but love for the self. .

When you love yourself, you choose to make changes for the better. But the desire for these changes comes not from judgment (which sounds like, “I’m so fat. I need to lose weight,” “I’m so lazy. I wish I would wake up earlier and do more around the house,” “He makes more money than me. I’m a loser and I need a better job.”). Instead of judgment, we can be prompted to make changes because we love ourselves so damn much and we want to make our lives better. .

You may be thinking, “Gaaaahhh. Gag me with a spoon. I’ll love myself once I lose 10 pounds, find a boyfriend, get paid more.” .

I. Get. It. .

I used to think that criticizing myself was the way to change. I would constantly pick out my flaws and come up with plans to fix them so I was more loveable. .

But, you are worthy and loveable RIGHT NOW AS YOU ARE. Gratitude helps us see all that we have and all that we are. Being appreciative of your breath for keeping you alive, for your hands for steering your car; chopping vegetables, holding a loved one; being thankful for your eyes so you can see beautiful sunsets; your ears for hearing music and birds chirping. .

Gratitude is the 🔑 to increasing your vibration and aligning with love. .

We have been conditioned to see our flaws (how else would companies get us to buy their products if we didn’t think we needed them to fix ourselves and be more loveable?). It takes time to change our thoughts to be more loving. It takes time to love ourselves. .

But keep at it. Look at the mirror into your own eyes and say, “I love you.” It may feel cheesy... 👇🏼

So, I struggled a lot lifting today. I have a couple videos, some okayish lifts...some crash and burns. Not bothering to share them today. I always feel like I forget how to snatch when I've had a week off. And I get very frustrated about that. 😢 But, I came home to find this shared by a friend on FB. It helped remind me that this is what was at the core of my issues today, and it's ok now and then...especially when I'm feeling beat up with the volume and having trouble focusing. There's no doubt about it, life can be brutal at times. In those times, it can also teach you about how beautiful it is. I am someone who has been through it and up until few years ago I have always had a negative outlook and the constant "why me" or "what now" attitude. It has taken me years to break the cycle and learn to accept the bad with the good, even when I don't want to. I'm not saying I'm perfect and I'm certainly not saying I don't have those bad days but what I am saying is this life is what you make it. If you want a positive life and you want to be happy, then that is something you need to work on. No one but you can do the work for you.

Yogis - just a few more weeks of yoga at 630 pm. Then we return to our regular schedule - me at 6 and Em at 730. 
Together we move, sweat, breathe, look at alignment and then let it flow. As a fellow type a personality, i know how easy it is to hold - hold on tight. One of my great teachers, Baron Baptiste, always says "let go. stop trying to control." And he's right - we cannot control anything - except our attitude, actions and breath. 
Which is why we call this yoga a practice. It's a practice because we all have tempers. Things that set us off. Make us angry. Piss us off. Create sadness, tension, stress, etc. Unless you lead a totally charmed life, we ALL deal with this. 
That's why we show up. Big. Even when we don't want to. Shake off the grumps. Find your breath. Move. Sweat. Nike said it best: just do it. 
See you at 630.
