History, heritage, the hills of Bordeaux. This Merlot/Cabernet Franc is the spirit of Bordeaux. In 2005, it became even more so after #vineyard owner Nicolas Despagne converted the family estate to organic viticulture. Situated on nearly eighty acres in the prestigious Bordeaux region, Maison Blance has taken #winemaking back to basics. Despagne and his team tend to the vineyards manually with their hands and horses. Underground winemaking and storage facilities make artificial heating or cooling unnecessary. The moon dictates treatment and fertilization cycles. The vineyard also relies on the region’s clay and chalk-rich soil to nurture their mid-century vines. The wine is naturally fermented for two to four weeks and aged for 10 – 16 months in old #French oak barriques. No fining, no filtration. This wine was made with love, to be enjoyed with the ones you love. Feel free to age this wine for another 15 years.
Did you know? #Saint -Émilion, a prestigious AOC on the right bank of the #DordogneRiver in Bordeaux, France, is planted mostly to Merlot and Cabernet Franc and is responsible for some of the most captivating, longest-lived wines in the world.
It’s so gratifying to receive such positive feedback about my course in France from Trish Eileen Hanlon @trisheileen , here’s another one of her beautiful palette knife paintings from last month.
I was so thrilled with Dean’s 2017 workshop that I enrolled again for 2018, never imagining it would be better than the first trip. I was so wrong.
Dean and Jo really know how to conduct a fabulous, enriching painting immersion experience, so much that I found it more difficult to depart than the previous year.
Noelle’s exceptional, creative culinary offerings were the icing on the cake. Months later I’m still longing for the morning lectures and discussions over coffee, croissants, and fresh fruits, beautifully prepared fresh lunches, early evening aperitifs with incredible wines, and sumptuous suppers among amazingly talented and interesting painters from all over the globe.
I experienced a personal transformation in my own paintings and could see the same in others as well. Two walls-worth of stunning art! It was heavenly. I believe none of us really wanted it to end, and I cannot wait for the next one!
